    DAZZA501:
We've made contact. I offered to play over the weekend but didn't see each other. Hopefully play sometime this week.

That's great Dazza. Thanks for the update!

And great to see our first round scores posted... seems like it's a little brutal out there!

I especially loved noticing the chat comment: "Whoever thought up this setup is manical" (open up the pic, copied below, in a new tab and the comments are legible). Too funny... Thank you! We certainly try to please!

This is supposed to be tough-as-nails, everyone. Par will be a great score on just about every hole (certainly all the par 4s). We're trying to recreate the feeling of a Major in the toughest conditions, and one thing we've realized in setting it up this way is that you end up with gameplay that can be a lot more satisfying, and realistic, than endlessly firing at pins and games being settled on which player misses more 5-15ft putts, or how many lucky eagles are holed.

However, to really have fun, you've gotta put a little bit of practice in, or 'tough' will become 'impossible'.

    Enjoy!
    Your Friendly Maniac

P.S. The approach screenshot should be of the player who's about to hit, so that it shows the Uneven Lie. So if only one of you is capturing the screenshots, try and make it sure it's on your turn.

P.P.S. Just so you know, I have no absolutely no doubt you were playing with Uneven Lies!!!!

I really like the comment about the maniacal set up.  lol.

One of the reasons we're going with starters and uneven lies is this set up allows the natural defenses the courses were designed with to have a chance against our equipment. Playing with my "fancy clubs and ball" as Corwyn likes to say, removes the natural defense that these courses can throw up at us. Hitting over trouble and darting approaches is not how  courses like RSG were designed. There's a keyhole on each hole that has to be discovered so we can put in the key, unlock the secret and play the hole without getting locked out by it's defense mechanism. Practice is vital. You can't just show up with chest out and no fear and expect to play in this setup well. Oakmont, St A and especially Olympic all have locks on each hole. There's always a way and in some cases playing to par is the key that unlocks the hole. I watched this years US Open at Olympic very closely. The players had to find that key and turn the lock on each hole. Playing to par when you have no choice lowered more scores that pin seeking and forcing birdies that turned into bogies and worse. This setup with the starters and uneven lies is exactly the same.

Great luck to all the players and hit 'em straight when it calls for it and crooked(uneven) when par is going to get you the best score possible. ;-)

Great playing there Dazz.  Your GIR was very good and your ave to the pin is stunningly great. :-)

Wow Dazz! That's a great score. A 74 even with an 8 on the card at a par 5 (looks like you both hit some serious trouble there).

You've set us all a benchmark there...

(now I know why you said you loved Uneven Lies!)

Of course! That makes sense. With this format, it sometimes feels as if every second counts!

Thanks for taking the shots, tackling the course, and leading us all off on this crazy adventure... :)

The site went down when Spino and I were in the fairway on the 13 hole. I'm ready to explode in a fit of rage. I saved the card after 9 just in case but didn't save the stats.

Did I mention I'm ready to explode in a fit of rage?
