Just curious how you all have accounted for the wind affect on your shots.  I thought at first it would be simply adding or subtracting the distance for your shots.  I seem to think it isn't, as it seems to me to be mor like 50-75%.   How have you dealt with the wind?  In terms of adding or subtracting clubs for a set distance?

    Ty!

My rule of thumb for headwinds/tailwinds:

+- 1 yd per mph on 200 yds shots w/o spin, linear fractions for shorter shots.

Comes down to +- 1 yd per 4 mph with wedge.

I would take it as a liability, credit the wind account and then debit the ball expense account.

    ok .

a good way.. is to go to ST. ann.. # 10  .. or anywhere..find ya a 15 or so headwind... dont do put anyspin on ya ball... MAX ya power ..an listen for the thump watchin the distance show'n.. .. it will pause a sec when it lands..  dont count roll out.. that can be diff depending on green..

but where it lands will be somewhat consitant...if ya have to take notes... do this with all ya clubs.. then do it down wind..

thats just a good reference... u have then to go on.. u can do this in practice mode an take up to 10 hits per hole...IT don't count towards avg .. :)

    peace...

I made my own wind chart through trial and (mostly) error.  I found that the wind affects  wedges differently from other irons and the affect of wind speed rises as the speed goes up.  For example in my chart for R11's with Nike ball on 8-6 irons I use +- 40% for wind from 5-15 MPH but 50% +- from 16 MPH up to about 30.  It changes again above 30 MPH to around +- 70%.  Keep in mind that your ball flight (club type), shot type (full or punch) and spin will also have a dramatic affect on how much the wind moves the ball.  The longer the ball stays in the air, the more affect.  C

PS - whether your shot is uphill or downhill also affects the wind amount - more if down hill, less if uphill.
