    Hey Guys,

I am an amateur looking to upgrade my irons. Now, unlike the purchase of my spider putter L-19(Great Reviews) which I am not really pleased with I thought I would ask the help of you more experienced players before I make a move.

So I can use some help in selecting a set of irons that will fit my ability and help me advance.

    Thanks

    John

The level 32 R11 irons are pretty great. Only downside is the longer irons get really limited backspin, even with very good balls, but that's about the same with all iron sets until the G20s. Accurate regardless, so if you're playing a big green with the pin at the back, you'd just hit the ball 5-8 yards short and let it roll a little :)

The level 33 Raptures are 25% cheaper than the R11's and much more forgiving. I liked them a lot.

So how good of a ball will I need if / when I get the g20s?

Wait until you get to level 35 (it won't take very long) and buy the G10's. You won't need to change these until you get to level 59 then you can get the G20's

I agree with the idea of getting Raptures. The low meter speed and high forgiveness means you don't have to constantly invest in balls if you don't want to. I used the Rapture 3 wood of the tee until reaching the high50s Ping driver, then made Legend with these and starter balls and used them all the way up to level 80whatever for the Ping G20's. Maximum progress in the game for minimum expenditure, and a good learning process along the way.

The R11 L32 set is a great deal and great clubs. Improved my game substantially.

Re: L 33 Raptors vs L32 R11's..... The Raptures are fine  clubs in all of their levels and can get you far.

However, the loss with the R11's at L32 is only 1/2 click of forgiveness which is livable, a faster meter speed & they cost more. What you gain is considerable if you can handle the additional speed. You gain Distance, 1 more in Precision and also 1 more in Spin which are big factors when trying to make your approach shots for accuracy and stopping or controlling the ball roll capability.
