Ryder Cup 2009 - GOODBYE!

  So,so,so... we insist on giving the WGT community heart failure... we insist on drawing again and again and making every match more important and exciting than the previous one...

  Well played, Jalaii, and the situtation at the moment is:

  Scores are level with two matches to go: TallAcePaul/Portsd vs. Gitthe/Jalaii with U.S.A. 1 up after three holes and Imcoola playing on his own to finish off a fourball match in which U.S.A. are 3 up with four to go (2 up if Imcoola can make a six foot putt on 15).

  I had not been wanting to talk about this, but... given that it´s still so close...

  If there is a draw, another match will have to be played. Usually the previous winner of the Cup just retains it, but as this is the first virtual Ryder Cup ever... we need a winner!

  Seve - why does Imcoola have to play alone, have i missed something, i thought our captain was playing this match with him?

  He did. But Imcoola got disconnected when he was on the 15th green, and the other three carried on playing. So now he plays on his own and then we put together all four scores.

  Well in my opinion I shouldn't play alone. That's because if I play alone and shoot let's say par eagle birdie birdie everyone could say: This guy played as much rounds as he needed to get the winning score. This should be a fair contest so somebody(I don't care who) should play the round with me so he/she can say: It's right he shootet Par Eagle back to back birds

  Surely the concept of fourballs is that you play with together with a partner, one of you can play the percentage shot and the other can have a go for it. Playing on your own isn't the same.

  I realise its a bit late now, but in my opinion the other 3 shouldn't really have continued playing.

  Thank you to paulmcm for his comment which I totally think is right.  That game should have stopped when Imcoola got disconnected accidently, and the game should be continued by the same 4 players at another time to play the last 3 1/2 holes of that match !

  If Imcoola plays by himself then i'm sorry to say it's not a fourball anymore ! that's ridiculous !

  Evening all,

  Just wanna start this off by saying that the Ryder Cup has been full of excitment....back and forth from start to finish. Its easy to see that the two teams are very well stacked. Stacked evenly for that matter.

  I just happened to have been in the mirc chat room when imcoola experinced technical difficulties and was disconnected. We are all adults here. Disconnections should have been dealt with before the Ryder started. imcoola is right he shouldnt have to play alone and cool my friend you are also right it would no longer be a fourball event if he did go at it alone, or just had an American tag along as a score tracker.

  The way i look at this you ladies and gentlemen have two options:

  1) Be adults and halve the point.... .5 to INT and .5 to US

  2) Settle this disconnection with a playoff. I believe its only right to settle this the old fashion way..... Captain vs Captain. Niv and Seve tee it up for the tie break.

  It is completley unfair to make imcoola play alone, or for that matter outside the original pairing for a couple reasons. 1) the pressure factor is gone... 2) the entire format of fourball is no longer in effect.

  Just my two cents worth on this. I have great friends on both side and you all can just call me a neutral bystander. I had a little free time and thought I'd share my opinion.

  Good points lil Rob. Playoff would be fun but there is some play left.

  Jalaii and I talked and we are willing to replay all of the holes with coola and paul.

  We will then resume play at 15 with us 3 up and coola putting for par to win the hole.

  Let us know if this is what you guys want to do.
