I was in 20/25 sand 12 yards away. I used my low level Cleveland 64. I hit it 80% with about 3/4 spin near the ball and sand line.

The ball went about 5 yards and didn't even come close to getting out.

Please help me understand where I error-ed on this shot.

I can only guess - but the green was probably above you add 2 yards, and if you miss the ding on a flop less than full power add another 3 yards. Into the wind - add 1 yard.

    So, I get 12 + 3 (20/25) + 2 elevation + 3 missed ding + 1 wind =  21yds.

I would have played this shot full power (Clev64) with just a touch of top spin. But that's just me and I ain't very good.    :)

I just hit a flop from clean fairway up 3 feet 10 yards from the pin.  I hit it 10-12 but it only went 5 yards

Without knowing the elevation, it is tough to figure. With that wedge, I have been able to get within ~ 1 yard  using these corrections: 15/25% +1, 30/40% + 3, 40/50% +5. My CG 64 figures are FBS 18 yd, No spin 19, FTS 22.

    Hope this helps!

Playing a flop out ANY bunker on this game is not the smart play. Full shot is the way to go.

For what it's worth, I often use a flop out of a bunker when the % is 15-20 and the distance is less than about 15yds. And I usually get pretty close. Anything longer or with a higher % is a little dicey with a flop.

The ball seems to checkup better using flop with high level Cleveland 64 in short distance sand over a full shot also.

Same here. You can flop out of deeper stuff but you have to add a lot more power.

You might try using your 60 out of the bunkers and look carefully at your lie.  If you don't have the ball completely buried move the red dot down even with the sand and the ball.  Then adjust for the distance.  I played with the Cleavlands for a long time so watch how much spin you put on it.  As you are surely aware, the Cleavland Wedges put a wicked spin on the ball . You are going to get the spin anyway so try to gauge the distance.  That would be my advice.  I have made plenty of Birdies and a few Eagles out of bunkers with the Cleavland 60.  Good luck to you. Hope this was at least a little helpful to you.

    Cheers!

    Vic (BuddhaDharma).
