Hi, why do i have to forfeit my round in order to re-equip with decent balls? its surely not my fault i cant determine how many hits i have left on the last ball and wether or not it will last a round. simply defaulting back to the starter balls is clearly not acceptable.

Before someone says why dont you just make sure you have spares before you start, the reason i dont have spares is i'm trying out several different ball types so dont want to buy more than 1 pack when i might not use them all, wasting my dwindling credits.

Am i missing something? If not, this rule is clearly written by the village idiot.

It's called the "one ball condition" (in the rulebook, it's in Appendix 1, Part C), USGA rules.

The "one ball condition" requires the player to use the exact same brand and type of ball throughout the round. For example, if you tee off the first hole with a Titleist Pro V1x, then that's what you must play throughout the round. You may not switch to any other brand of ball, nor even to any other type of Titleist ball. You started with the Pro V1x, so the Pro V1x is what you must use on every stroke.

In real golf if you ran out of the same type of ball you would be disqualified. For this game it switches you to the starter balls out of courtesy to finish your round. The game also gives you the opportunity to purchase the same type during the round. This game conforms to the USGA rules so they are the Village Idiots that wrote the rule it as you put it.

During your previous round it shows if the ball is getting low and turns red on the life scale. So if you start a new round with that ball you better have more of the same ball or you will more than likely revert to the Starters during your round. Try playing Practice rounds or use the single hole play via the Course under WGT Community to try out new balls and clubs if you don't want to have to end a round.

A hopefully handy suggestion: as it becomes clear during your round that you have nearly run out of life in your last ball, just pause the round and buy some more. As long as you do this before you actually run out, it is fine.

This is good advice, it's what I have done on more than one ocassion (learnt the hard way, switching from Nikes to Starters just does not work).  What I've also done, is if I have one ball of whatever type left, I will load a game just to check how much life is left in a ball, then I will know if it will last for the next game or not.  Ofc, if you lose the ball, life left becomes moot, so I try to have at least two of a type left before starting a round.

When your playing and its your last ball it offers you a chance not to be a bonehead with the option to buy more so whats the problem again ?

    Ok guys, point taken.

Never heard of  the 'same ball type' rule as i dont play the game any more.

Last time i played in 1991 i drove the buggy straight over the 1st teebox much to my dads disgust.

PJ he told you he is trying different balls out. He may not want to use that ball anymore. Issue I have have here is it's a video game, there should be no reason he can't have the opportunity to get another ball from his bag, or at least buy a sleeve of balls of his choice I have had it happen to me too, so now I use my singles to play practise rounds.
