    EnglishRosey:
Japan, the developed world's least firearm-filled nation and perhaps its strictest controller?

Different culture hence different results, still they have one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Evidently they choose not to take others along with them.

A tool is a tool Rosey, its the operator that counts!

Sorry to get in to this discussion on this thread, my apologies.

and that in a nutshell is exactly why you have the problems with guns that you have in the USA.

We don't have a problem with guns we have a problem with people!

when its people toppled a brutal, 24-year dictatorship and sparked the Arab Spring

And brought on what? The Arab brotherhood and sharia law? Wonderful!

Clay i was merely making the point the inherent value of the 2nd amendment  'a government not having a monopoly of force' (hence why you have guns originally) is now invalid, as Tunisia shows, it is people, not weapons that really win wars. And in a juxtaposition way, your government is too heavily armed to over throw anyway....its all grey.

Clay you are my friend and we have argued before on this and you know my feelings on firearms and i have reiterated them in my previous/original post in this thread, i will not debate this issue here, in this thread.

While I will not get into the conversation of gun control here on the forums, I would like to pray for all of the families and kids who went through this.  Not only did he kill 20 children, but both his parents, the principal, the counselor, and 3 other staff, as well as injuring 20 more kids.

Prayers go out to all the families involved.

Ok, i did not debate, i put up my feelings and the facts i know. I agreed with your points, yes about cars, and states with lowest homicide rates, but then also stated other word wide examples. You can see my first post is not a debate but just my thoughts on gun control. i did not quote you, incite or ask for response.

Those are my thoughts, disregard them at your leisure. No more here, please.

    Thoughts out to all involved.

    Agreed......there's a time and a place....this is neither.

With hindsight I shouldn't have brought up "the gun thing" earlier so I apologise for doing so.

No amount of talking / debating / arguing over firearms is ever gonna bring these kids back or even come close to healing the pain.

I will say this though....I know whilst I celebrate Christmas Day with my young daughter and watch her happiness at opening her presents etc, my thoughts will also be with those mothers and fathers of Newtown who tragically and sadly have been heinously deprived of experiencing the same feelings of joy and happiness.

No mere words can ever express the sadness felt....never. My sincerest condolences and many prayers for those purely innocent little souls lost today and to the families who are left to deal with the losses.

(Teary-eyed) I'd hug you all if I could.......
