It's perfectly legal ...  Any club, anytime ... in this game AND in real life.

The only difference, here you won't have someone from the grounds crew trying to run you down with a mower for taking big divots out of the greens.

Think WGT should ban any type of chipping or using a driver on the green. U dont do it in real golf then u shouildnt do it here, and yes if  i was a ground crew i would dump all your balls, both in your bag and in your pants and run them over with my mower.

I do, both here and on the course. Let's keep this game as authentic as possible.

there's a big difference in doing it when you have to......like the dead zone on st andy 17 and doing it more often than they putt.  clearly there's a right time for the shot.  just because you can any and all the time doesn't make it right.  that's my feelin.  not here to argue, just think it's bad sportsmanship using a wedge from 10/20/50/100 feet instead of putting where there's absolutely nothing between your ball and the cup to prevent a putt attempt.

There's a green on St Andrews (#5 or #6 iirc) that if you get in the wrong position you HAVE to chip / pitch (well pitch actually). The green is 'U' shaped if you are on the left of the 'U' and the pin is on the right (or vice versa) you cannot even 2 putt to the hole.  Of course to do that you would have had to be seriously wayward, but hey, some of us ............

    Totally agree with Courteney.

It's within the rules, so why not?

I too have done it when I had to in real life.
