Good thread, different opinions and same application.

Like Dazza says punch can be used with all the clubs except drivers just to get from deep/heavy rough or munch and weeds, an iron 7 always get the ball back in the fws, low irons or wedges for greens.

The wedges are all-purpose normal, punch and flop gives you all the distances and rolling you require for a good approach even good eagles approach.

Try punching a drive if you have a straight fairway and and an awkward distance.

I've done this from the fairway at CCC 11 when I had serious left to right wind and the threat of that pond. It kept the ball under the wind very nicely and I managed to fluke it to within 2 yards of the hole. But it is a tricky and sometimes unpredictable shot.

I like using it on SA1 with full top. Almost impossible to hit the water in any wind and keeps you a nice distance from the hole for the approach.

i will use the punch shot with wedges out of fway if its really windy gr8 shot helps keep the ball from moving so much & dont roll that much. its a shot saver & a must learn shot if u want to improve your game. play alone & practice it you will grow to love it...........
