but it sure beats the alternative.

    hahaha.... Hallelujah brother! :)

Guess we'll all just have to grow old disgracefully! Could be a lot worse things.

    Nice post CT.

I've always said that when it's my time to *shuttle off this mortal coil, I want no user-serviceable parts left.

Growing old disgracefully, because neither I nor my wife are breeders and have never felt the burning desire to replicate our DNA, is therefore a prerequisite to what I call "my finger to the universe."

    * I prefer Schopenhauer's interpretation of the phrase.

PS: And yes, CT (Colin) has a way of simply distilling the dross and presenting the facts in an often humourous but enlightening way.

    Cheers,

    Peter

Watching the videos craigswan posted brings back memories as I have been the star of the show in each one at least once!

We had a very nicely laid out local community 9 hole public course that at 1 time only cost residents $6 to walk and play, when my company started to do well I used to make time to play 9 every weekday on my way home from April to Nov., sometimes only 5 or 6 holes but for $6 who cared...

There were 2 tougher holes that for some reason no matter how hard I tried not to, I always brought the trees and water in to play, this is the place most of my "craigswan" videos were brought to life trying to miss them!

This is also where I learned one of the most important golf tips ever given...."The best way not to hit a tree, is to aim right at it !"

Can some one lend me some cash .

Wentworth golfers face missing the cut after the venerable club’s new Chinese management told them they must pay a £100,000 fee or lose their membership.

The Surrey club, one of England’s most exclusive sporting institutions and the headquarters of the PGA European tour, was bought for £135m a year ago by Chinese conglomerate Reignwood.

Under the new membership structure, which will take effect in 2017, existing members will have to pay £100,000 for a debenture share, in addition to a £16,000 annual subscription. Newcomers will have to pay £125,000 for the debenture or a non-equity membership, of which only about 800 will be sold by invitation.

Well, that kind of money would certainly keep a WGT'er flush with Nike balls for a while...lol

I have played Wentworth a couple of times, great course .....but not at that price.

Owners backing onto the course used to be entitled to membership (for a fee).

Debentures is common in Hong Kong, both for local and Mainland clubs and prices did vary but was between HK$800,000 - $1.5M (going back a few years now) so the figures seem similar.

Golf in Asia is elitist, but top clubs anywhere in the world always have an overinflated perception of their worth.

OH and Steve.....ages is just a number.......I am trying to convince myself of that...the aches and pains remind me otherwise!

I certainly hope the forum cup winners aren't as "flamboyant" as that trophy...as an aside, Paul and I just finished another epic nail biter of an Alternate match...the heated contest lasted one hole, before Paul's partner crashed out...at least the wins and losses are adding up without too much ball life being used...oi vey

On an up note, I heard the IT shops dart tournament is a rousing success, so far. Apparently, the absence of bothersome distractions is the key..:)

You don't remember the Lady Stanley Cup?  That's it!

Understandable though since the Leafs haven't seen the Lord Stanley Cup in a long time.

I know, I know.....taking the discussion further off track but I couldn't resist.
