Is it just me, or does the Nike level 81 SLOW METER balls seem to have a faster meter than they used to.  Any one else notice a difference or am i just getting old??  (They are more like the normal $4.50 balls than the supposedly slower $5.50)

    Prepare to be stunned.

Take a listen to the song that plays when you open the game client for about 10-12 seconds each time. I've played the drums for over 35 years and I can feel any little difference in tempo. The song doesn't play at exactly the same speed each time. Your ball speed meter play is based on that song speed each time you open the game client,. I've noticed that Mondays it drags and I'm always playing well based on a slightly slower meter. Other days it plays a tick faster and the meter follows.

Just in case you don't want to believe me, I've used a stop watch and counted the beats per minute in 5 and 6 second increments and they're not always the same. The song sets the meter speed every day.

So it's not any ball it's the song that changes speed and you perceive it to be the ball. Test it playing with the free ball. I play the freebie often.

    Now we're talking same language....BPM.

I used to be a drummer in a band when I was younger, but that progressed (having learnt how to use drum machines/samplers, 909's etc etc) when in studio, and that progressed to getting a pair of technics to get my BPM fix, which I then became extremely good Techno DJ playing all over U.K and Holland where I was able to buy my own drum machines, samplers, 505's 909's a PC software to produce my own Dance Music and released to other "top Dj's" shop and  also mess around selling jingles to TV.  Funding my ability to play WGT all day.  (but still have my Yamaha studio Drumkit) So BPM's My heads ringing with them. ANd made a decent career out of them

Good so you understand what I'm saying. Test it yourself across a weeks time. I think the VEM is also tied into the BPM of the song. I'm surprised you haven't "felt it" already.

BTW, I knew there was something I liked about you. ;-)

Interesting, i thought it was just me. Some days i can ding my R11's with a Srixon, other times even with these new Nikes, that meter seems to fly.

p.s. What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?  Homeless :-)   only a joke lol

Makes sense............everything must change to keep everyone on their toes.  Slow meter balls does not mean same pace every day slow meter balls............Interesting one!

When the Level 81 Nikes first came out I purchased  half a dozen of them, I was using the level 71 "X" ball for months. Immediately after playing a practice round with the 71's I switched to an 81 and it was like OMG, I can't miss the ding", it was on the verge of being TOO slow, I'd click too soon at first anticipating it to charge up to the line, then I learned to just wait for it to arrive, it felt like it stayed at the line for a tenth of a second.

Weeks later the meter has slowed to almost exactly the 71 balls meter, today I just practiced back and forth between balls and the differance is so minute I have to actually look at the ball to see which one I'm using. The music BPM  theory doesn't make sense here because I'm switching balls within seconds, not days.

I wrote an E-Mail to support about this and received no reply yet. If you watch real close on a practice swing it starts out very slow, at about 1 and a quarter inches it shifts to a higher gear, an inch and a quarter later into another higher gear (I know about shifting gears as I drive race cars), every single time, on every differant browser and computer I use. The first time I used it, the 81 ball,  that very initial slow speed that you see continued on all the way to the hit line, it definately has been changed.

Try the free balls for a couple of rounds. After that everything seems slow.

Has absolutely nothing to do with that, I'm playing just fine. What we're (Me and Chris) are saying is they definately changed that 550 credit sleeve of balls from a real smooth slow meter to a much quicker (double the speed) slightly skipping meter (2 skips but I call them shifts to a faster speed). Play one and watch the first 2 inches, it's very slow and smooth, that was the speed it had all the way to the release line, now you can plainly see it speed up at two differant times before it reaches the line.

The 450 credit and 550 credit balls are so similier there's not reason to spend the extra 100 credits. Also I grabbed a sleeve of level 33 Cally's (250 credits) and the meter was only a tad faster.
