I have had the R1 for about 2 weeks now. My only regret was that I had bought the R11s, I should have just stayed with the R11 until the R1 became available, of course if WGT would do a little better job of showing us upcoming products it would help.
Regarding the R1....
I didn't like it at first. The meter is a little slower so it throws you off if you have the R11 irons that matched the R11 speed. Once I got used to that it was better.
The plus of the driver is that it is very long, especially if you use the right spin on the ball to take advantage of the wind and / or terrain. I find that it is 10 plus yards longer than the old R11s I had. It is also very forgiving, miss the ding a little early or late will hurt only a little in distance very little in right or left.
The negative, it is lower trajectory so there are a few areas on Olympic, Congressional and BPB that you have to be very careful of. The forgiving comes into play on some courses as well. For example on BPB #2 I try to early hit to simulate a hook, with the R1 this doesn't work nearly as well, still goes pretty straight.
All things considered this is a very good club and a step up from anything on the site.
