So Ive been playing the Gspider lvl35 for a while now....really like the club but am curious about (and looking for inputs from those who have upgraded through the line) how the upper lvl versions compare with the one from lvl 35.

Is there a disernible difference moving from 35 to 66?  1200 cr is pretty steep so I would like to understand if you felt that you were making more putts after upgrading.

I have a sneaking  suspicion  that with the added precision, those putts that constantly burn the edges will start to fall - not all of them for sure - but maybe 10-20% more.....or a stroke or two a round....if so that would make a pretty big difference.  If not the cr would probably be better spent on wedges - I believe...

    Opinions, advice, suggestions all welcome.

    thanks in advance.....

    Jeff

When I changed between the two I couldn't buy a putt for a few weeks, but then I got used to it and my stats improved. I think it's like this with most putters, it's just a case of what you get used to.

The level 66 Spider Ghost is slightly better, for most people because of the 1/2 dot extra precision and balance. But it does have a much faster meter and that does take some time for some people to adjust to. If the faster meter speed is not an issue then it would be a good investment as you already know the distances that you can get with the scales.

But I just checked your clubs and the 2 wedges you have are good but you should think about dropping the hybrid and maybe adding the 60 degree Ping wedge to go with the 2 you have. And from TM tees you could even drop the 3 wood and add the 54 degree Ping as well. I still use the 54 degree Ping as my 3rd wedge rotating it with the 54 degree Taylor Made Z-satin. The more wedges you have the easier it is to get close and the closer you can get to the hole on your approaches the easier it will be to make your putts with what you have now.

Roger that.......put the hybrid in the bag for a CTTH thing I did a week or so ago and have been remiss in putting my 60 degree back in the bag.....Have found myself wanting several times......-- Thanks for the reminder!

Yes. Your observation about more of those close ones dropping is accurate but not because of the precision as much as for the better balance. All 3 Ghost putters have the same forgiveness but what increases with each version are precision and balance. Better precision means the putt is more likely to go where you aimed it BUT that balance is what helps the putt hold the line. Better balance, better roll.

Imagine putting with a balsa wood putter. You'd have to squeeze and muscle the stick through the putt because the balance would suck-there wouldn't be any. However, put a weight at the end of that stick and it swings like a pendulum right through the ball, especially if it's balanced. All you do is hold on it swings so nice.

Whatever you decide, like Courteney pointed out, it takes a while to get comfortable with it. You aren't buying putts, just a better tool. Commit to it.  GL

At least you didn't make the big mistake I have made and a few others have made after a CTTH round. That is no driver,no 3 wood, just the iron set and 5 wedges.

I have used both the Lvl 35+ and the Lvl 66+.ghost Spiders for several months

I just switched back to the Lvl 35+ and I think I am going to sell both back to the pro shop and get the Nike Method 001 Lvl 77+ mainly for the slower meter speed.

Had the 35+ loved it, tried the Nike Method lvl 77+ and hated it tried it for a couple of weeks.  Went back and bought the level 66+ ghost spider which I still have and will be having this same debate at my next level (92+) for that extra half dot of precision and balance for that ghost spider putter.

Get used to dinging it for it to work when you get it. Not sure how the other Ghosts work but the 92 is definitetly a ding putter.
