Hi Crafty,
Yeh its a great hole alright.
I am generally 50/50 par/bogey. I did actually birdie it once, a few weeks ago. Heres how I did it.
I played my second shot, short and right and allowed it to run up between the trap and the right hand fringe. To near the trap and you'll get slung off to the right, to near the fringe and you'll get slung off right. BUT - there is a place somewhere in between where, with the right pace on the ball it will actually feed into the hole late - once past that bunker. But the pace has to be perfect.
I hit my second shot to within 10ft and made the birdie - never done it since mind you lol. Generally end up right in the rough - its a typical links shot. Keep the shot low and run it up.
Whatever you do - DONT go left - you'll never get up and down easily from there. If you do over cook your second shot, you will generally be left with 10 / 12 yd flop / pitch for third and a putt for par.
It is all about the pace on that second shot. Not enough and you wont get over that hump at the front - to much and you'll roll off right into the rough.
Thats my experience. Hope it helps. Good luck.
Cheers
Doug
PS - Where are you from? I'm from Adelaide :-)
