Would the Chinese kid have been disqualified if he'd done it? You bet.

I doubt it. The only reason Tiger didn't get it was because the officials ruled on it before the round ended. Were it not for the viewer calling it out later, there would be no issue. As it is, there is a somewhat obscure new rule in place to cover instances just like this where a TV viewer calls foul. The 2 stroke penalty is in it.

Tiger admitted to dropping the ball illegally.  He intentionally dropped it farther back to get a better shot.  He admitted that he cheated and they still don't dq him.

the masters epitomizes everything wrong with this country today.  The rich rule.  They try to keep the young kid from playing and then bend rules to keep tigger.  that is how this country is run.

    boycott the masters.

The officials say they looked at the video of the drop while Tiger was on the 18th hole finishing his round. They decided there was no fault and did'nt even talk to Tiger about the drop.If they had decided right then and there that Tiger was at fault, they would of advised him of the two stroke penalty before he signed his card.So on that aspect the officials are at fault.

But for Tiger to admit in an interview after the match that he purposely dropped the ball a yard or two behind the divot mark of the first shot to improve his situation,he was clearly breaking the rule.He made a mistake, signed his card and should be disqualified.

But the officials decided he could play on with a two stroke penalty.

    This is not over friends....

A mounth ago Stacey Lewis got a two stroke penalty for something that happened on the 14th hole;but the officials notified her on the 18th "before"she signed her card.

If she had signed her card, before the officials let her know she was going to be penalized, she would have been disqualified automaticaly

That rule is worded way wrong, any drop someone could say" that was not a close as possible"

It should have been worded the ball has to be dropped  inside the length of the club that was used at the original hit. Then there is no question
