I've given up trying to hit the ding now. Even if i'm playing in low wind and i've got a 3mph straight head or tailwind i've been aiming slightly left and missing slightly late on purpose and i've been getting some very good results from it.

I still try to ding my shots, and when i do i'm getting pretty fair results overall. I don't consider myself a really high % ding player, but i'm usually pretty close.

I have definitely hit dinged tee shots where the ball starts out at the flag instead of the aiming point. For me it has not been a major occurrence lately.

If anything i have been pleasantly surprised by some of my badly missed shots rather than upset with dings as of late. Although, i haven't been playing as much as in the past, maybe i'm just missing more.

Seriously though cib, you should post a video of your games so when this stuff happens to you, wgt and others could hear your views of certain shots and then actually see what happened. The replay just doesn't show enough shot detail to judge.

He has been advised to do that in over a million post ive read and i've yet to see a video just replays. And congressional has been pretty accurate for me the last few days havent had any issues there beside me lipping a few putts.

I  always  was under the impression that you would be rewarded for hitting the ding. Now if you hit the ding you get screwed.... what a game. What about all the BS about if you hit the ding you will be in some sort of golden  circle  of success and be close to the pin if all your calculations are correct. It seems Chris is right that they are trying to beat the auto-dingers and in the process messing with our games.

Hitting the ding gives you a random deviation in a certain range. Missing the ding gives you a random deviation in a certain other range. Add to these the deviations due to lie, wind, spin, and so forth.

I wouldn't give 2 cents for an auto-dinger. The key to good games is putting (and I ain't there, and it ain't 'cause I can't ding).

I save dings for approach and longish putts, everything else is missed ding.

Can't say my results are good, but they are not awful.

Chris any chance you might be playing to fast. I find more problems when I'm playing quick, almost like the game needs time to catch up, if you are try missing the ding more and slow it down. Move the aim er slowly, the spin slowly, hold the meter for a few seconds at the top of your swing as well.

Give the game a chance to catch up.

    bubbadork:

Hitting the ding gives you a random deviation in a certain range.

Amen to that, the range being a moving target of late.

I think what is being suspected by the programmers is that a high percentage ding rate is being assumed to be impossible by humans, therefore certain dings are being punished.

Remember we are dealing with people who play their own game like crapola.

It explains plenty, the really good players play to miss the ding, the not so good players miss the ding, and those that worked hard and buy the right balls and hit the ding are being suspected as cheaters and punished.

And all that coupled with a share the wealth manipulation, makes this game extremely difficult and frustrating. Kind of like real golf, in a way.

But the non cheaters can do something the auto dingers cannot, and that's miss the ding on the favorable side at will.

    Just do it.

Hard enough for average me already LOL...phew!

Yes I keep forgetting about that 1, I suppose it would be easy to miss ding either way with that 1. I'm not sure any changes made helped legit players and hurt cheaters.
