The simulation for chipping in this game stands out as one of its main issues. The ball flight and roll is nothing like reality. For example, it's well known that a chip with a PW has a flight to roll ratio of about 50/50 - even from the rough. In this game its more like 20/80 which is like a 5 or 6 iron. Moreover, if you are further than 2 yards from the green then chipping is a real risk because the ball is unlikely to carry on to the green. Again, it's unrealistic because if you play a long chip with a wedge in the real world it carries 75-80% of the distance.

Please sort out the chipping - it's driving me crazy !!

Look in the game tips section of the forums and read about pitching, chipping, and flopping. It is explained really well.

Hmmn, a "chip" in the real world is intended to just clear an obstacle...i/e when on the fairway or just off the green, then run to the hole like a putt...seems to do that quite well.

You're more describing a pitch with mucho back spin that carries that far, or a flop shot (in real life).

34 ranked rounds and it's the game that is wrong? Ok.

Done that but it does not change the fact that the ball flight to roll ratios are all wrong -especially with wedges. I'm having to play a flop shot when in the real world a chip with a wedge would be the obvious choice.

If you chip with a 7 iron or 5 iron this is true. However, if you chip with a wedge is flies further than it rolls. Chip with a SW and it flies 75% of the distance and stops quite quickly. Take a lesson with a pro and that's the first thing they will tell you. Read any book on golf instruction and it will tell you the same thing. Go and play golf and compare a 7 iron and wedge when chipping and you can see it with your own eyes. In this game you can't chip onto the green safely if you are more than 2 yards off the green because it won't carry. It's like they modelled the chip on a 5 iron regardless of what club you actually select. It's one thing they got wrong.

How do you pitch 8 - 12 yards? I struggle with that one.

I've learned to play the game as it is. I would still like the developers to improve the game by making chipping more realistic. The chip is the one shot in this game that I struggle with the most because the ball carry/roll ratio is wrong for wedges.

Look in the game tips section

    As opposed to 'golf tips'
