TM R1 Driver L98 available 4 all topplayers

  Agree with this post.  I joined wgt in July '09 and have played 3,100 ranked rounds since then.  So in 45 months of play I've averaged nearly 69 rounds per month or a little better than 2 ranked rounds per day.  I should have no problem earning enough points to be at a high enough level to get any new equipment wgt comes out with but, the catch is, I rarely play on weekends so I don't build up the consecutive play bonus points the way many players do and am instead another 100,000 pts from lvl 97.....will probably take me another year to get to lvl 98 and the r1.

  Totally agree. I'm around 4 almost 4 years now and consider myself as a regular player, close 2 addiction ;-). Still I'm lightyears away from level 98, will cost me at least another couple of years 2 reach.......

  Not so sure about that. The outcome of a tournament like the Virtual US Open  is determined by really small margins. It just might be the diffference between winning or a nice top10 score. I think that it's only fair 2 sub level 98 topplayers like 2times VirtualMajor winner StoneColdKiller, genorb & Hanswurst72 , 2 name a few, that they have the best equipment 2 compete at their toplevel.

If you want the top clubs, then put your time in just like everyone else. How is this fair to the Legends and Tour Legends , who have put their time in, and earned their top clubs ? Why should those of you who dont want to play up the levels , get to have the same clubs as those who do? Dont try to use the Tour Legends , as an excuse as to why you cant compete. My 2 cents.    Cuz your a TM that those clubs are already available for and some of us legends still in the 80s levels, still have a much longer way to go to compete with better equipment, if i was level 93 and still a TM, i would be having a ball in this game.

  I don't know what the fuss is. I've got the R1 Driver and there isn't much difference from the R11s.

  If Bollox, StoneColdKiller or Dansamcam played this years open with a level 81 G20, how many of you would say those 3 guys had no chance of winning. I certainly wouldn't bet against them.

  With the level 98 or not driver in their posessions, they are the  top players, the champs.

  When they battle for scoring under 50, i try my best and  battle to have my first sub 60 score, i have not  their talent and admire them, congratulations to them.

  Dazza said it the best and its not like we had this driver our whole time on this game. We played and leveled up and purchased because there is nothing else to do with the credits. Someone bet me last week that i could not finish in top 10 next month without a r1 or r11 so next month ill be using the level 80 driver as i did well past me turning tour legend.

  With the upcoming Virtual US Open it would be a nice gesture towards all Tour Legends and Legends 2 make the TaylorMade R1 Super TP 8.0 Driver (L98+) available 2 them, regardless of their Level - or a minimum of level 90. Give them a 1 time opportunity 2 buy (eg when signing up 4 qualification), so we can have a fair and competitive tournament. Would be gr8ly appreciated.

  Drivers wont win you anything, your PUTTER WILL.  

  Played plenty of players with R1 driver yet you only see the difference on a few headwind holes, dont feel inferior just 'cause you dont have it, it wont add any strokes to your game

  I have to agree with Chris here, and was actually discussing something similar in a Match play game with a very highly skilled player from my Club earlier.

  With the price of the equipment now firmly in the realm of the absurd it's just one of the deterrents not to buy these new crazily priced clubs.That and the fact it will take me 2 years to qualify for that R1 driver...Why sell something that by the time I qualify for it you"ll have something better/newer out anyway? Silly marketing strategy.

  But at the same time I look at my bag and then look at the equipment I don't have or haven't qualified for yet and have decided that an extra 2 yards or a half a dot in the stats column is not going to make me play better. Even if I had all the top equipment, I don't feel like I'm magically going to shave 5 strokes off my average. 

  I also agree this game is 80% about the putter if you want those low scores, but at the same time a 3000 credit putter wont make me putt better either. Practice, talent and a lot of luck is what it's all about.

  I do agree that driving doesn't win you the tournament and putting does. But like I said before, with all other things equal, it just can be that little bit extra needed 4 winning.

  Point is that there's loads of toppplayers which are playing overhere 4 years, but aren't even close 2 level 98. It might be a difference in opinion but I think it's just not right 2 deny them access 2 any equipment they want 2 purchase /use. I can imagine that let's say every level 90+ Legend or Tour Legend should have access 2 all equipment.

  Well that having said, I still hope WGT will consider my initial suggestion from the OP.

  So you chose to tier up faster than level up .Now whose fault is that ? I`m also a casual player , but yet and still this player has 603 cdp .So I put my time in , so I can get whatever clubs that I want. So dont be hatin , and dont dislike me , get like me. Put your time in just like everyone else. And for your information, I do have a ball in this game. I dont have to gamble and play for credits, to have fun. This is nothing new, what some of you are asking for. It still wont happen, because it wont be fair to the players who EARN their way as they play. Happy Swinging

   Not so true, WGT chose to tier me up cuz i cashed, not won mind you a few RGs, and i managed to knock off some legends and TLs in MP, but my stroke avg at the time did not qualify me for Legend, i fought with WGT and got no where, so I made legend at Level 83 and not knowing what the hell i was doing there. I am sorry if i upset you, i wished i could be where you are right now, i think i would be having more fun, than on some holes having to hit it 30 -100 yards further than you on my drives. But i am not hating you, just stating a fact, you have all the opportunities for better clubs and none of the challenges of being a legend and figuring out the different tee shots and course mgmt, thats all i am saying. Dont know you so its not anything personal honest. My best to you and keep having fun.
