Hmm .. does that "win" mean the biggest bottom ?  Because if it is .. I'm definitely in the running.   :)

Seems a pity to interrupt this elevated discourse...

... but I fear I must report on our own bad joke of a round today. fm (fmagnets) and I ventured out to the parking-lot tees @ Merion today, and frankly, both had a bit of a nightmare. I played pretty badly, but had some bad luck too (3 lip-outs and a few nasty meter jumps): nonetheless, I seem to have hit a bad patch at the worst time. Poor fm was looking good early on, but 3-putts on both #5, and #6, lost him some momentum. He picked it back up with a masterful display of close approaches from 8-13 to get to -6, but then neither of us could find a birdie in the last 5, and both dropped a shot too.

I'd recovered a little in the middle, but missed short putts on #9, & #10, and then got a horrible meter stutter that put me in the creek on approach at #11. After that it was all over for me, a bizarre result tee shot shooting through the back of #13 just confirming that it wasn't to be... but it did allow me to play the shot of the day to escape 70% Light Brush and a terrifying up and sidehiller 7 yards behind the green (and hit with a 70 yard punch!). When the camera view switched to the blimp, we both waited in full expectation of hearing the ball drop, but needless to say, it stayed above ground, lol

We're pretty sure low 60s will be needed to reach the final, so best of luck to the rest of you battling it out. Having not felt I did myself justice, I'm hoping Shiner will let the rest of us try out the final round conditions as well... perhaps we should have a prize for anyone in the rest of the field bettering the finalists scores?

And the best of luck to all of you trying out the Merion Challenge as well!

    Corwyn: 70     fmagnets: 65

was great playing with CD, he played well, i did not. Unreal how bad my flat stick was...

was avg 7ft thru 12, and ended up 17.1 ft thru 18 avg distance to pin, 1.72 putts not going to get you too far.

Great playing with CD, and great tourney to participate in. GL all!

If any kind soul sees me green and would  care to mark, then please do so.

Not sure when and if Columbus wants to play. We are friends but no messages so far..

Jeff(Bogeybuster) and I had a pretty tough go just now. I made 9 birdies and pissed away 4 strokes to bogeys and a double. I think Jeff is destroying his putter as I type this. lol. He just missed so many putts by so little it wasn't funny. We each birdied the 7th hole with pretty nice approaches and great putts. That  hole usually has a mind of it's own and it was real nice to drop 2 birdies on it. Jeff made an amazing birdie on the 5th from the fringe. Sweet bender that dropped in the cup. After that, his putter went cold I think. I had a strange thing on the 18th. I hit what I was sure was my driver from the tee with following wind and the ball only went 250 into the 40-50% rough short of the fairway. I still have no idea what the heck happened there. Managed a punch 3wood and an 9 iron punch shot to make par somehow and get the heck out of there.

Sure was fun to play this round with Jeff. We had some laughs as best we could in the middle of the torment. In case anyone was wondering when looking at the screen shots..... Yes, we were dressed like twins. :-)

Good Luck to everyone and this Tourney has been a real pleasure to play. Great job Steve, and Corwyn for the admin and keeping it rolling.

Was unfriended by oneeyedjohn then friended again. Have not received any messages from oneeyedjohn, not sure whether oneeyedjohn wants to play in the lower bracket.

However I still want to play. oneeyed john is green sending an invite.
