Sir if you would please take a quick look at this you will see that the right preparation takes a little doing.

That link is what Corwyn has been working on for this tournament as well.

MS .. not saying they don't take time but ... there are only 16 players.

    You said it's a single elimination tourney so it's 3 rounds + the final ... that's a total of 14 games.

First community alt shot tourney I ran had 128 players .. Second one I ran had 10 country clubs worth of folks (over 1,000 players).

It really doesn't take that much time.

Anyway maybe I'm not sure exactly what your doing.   Make the pairings and let the 2 players work out their time schedules.   It's really not that hard.

Just want to get going before it loses steam.

    Hi Lou,

Processing the time availability spreadsheet does take a little time, but that's not the issue. Shiner had other real-life commitments that meant he didn't want the tourney to start till 5/26. I've asked if we could start earlier given everyone's enthusiasm (and also that at least a couple of us have schedules that will alter once school gets out in 2nd week of June).

Also, although the original post said 16 players, there was a desire to keep taking signups within reason...

... and, in an earlier post, I said we'd take signups till the end of this week, which we should perhaps honor.

With Russ (ColumbusStorm), we're now at 18 (an even number, which helps).

What do you think Shiner? Do you want to call it good now, and get started asap?

    Cheers, Corwyn

FYI all: the TIO2 spreadsheet was only that complicated because of all the generous special prizes that were offered by participants, necessitating tracking of a whole range of stats. Unless people feel so moved to offer more donations, I won't be going to that extreme this time!

I'm cool with whatever you guys decide Corwyn ... Just was wondering .. like i said it's only 16 guys ...

I don't even think guys care about winning anything (I sure don't) .. I just want to play.   The competition is the fun part.

My understanding of the format, is there will be a cut line of a certain number of players after each round.  The number of players making each cut can be determined after the number of entrants is determined.

    Is that correct?

Also don't let my entering late cause problems. I'll wait for the next one if I don't fit into the format. I won't be available to play until May 21 or 22.

    mnshiner:
    Tournament
The tournament will begin on May 26th with the last round taking place the week ending June 22nd. The first 16 that sign up will be playing UEL Single Elimination 18 Holes.

Seemed pretty straight forward to me.   Single Elimination tourney.

The tournament will start on the 20th of May due to the fact we have folks wanting it to start.

Once again this is not a Match Play tournament but played in Practice Mode, lowest scores move on to next round.

Right now we have 18 players, so after the first round we have 9 to move on. I am trying to figure out how should the second round be played.

    Here are my thoughts lveitri
After the first round we have 9 players, we would need a marker, no problem I am available from the 20th on. I suggest the 4 lowest scores out of the 9 move on to the third round.

    Does that work for you?

Let me clarify some things while I have some time. When folks come and see the players that have signed up I believe they have a reluctance to enter. Therefore the length of the sign-ups.

Here is just one quote from a player:
slim chance of makeing it thru the first round but it would be honor to play a game with any of you . may i join in ?. That player wants to play the game and learn from the player he or she is playing with. I like the fact that they know they are out numbered but is still wanting to take part.

In my last tournament I wanted everyone to have a chance to play twice and they did in a separate bracket. And again for this tournament there is a 50% chance to be out of the running. You will get to play twice if you choose to do so with a prize in that bracket as well.

First round players under the Legend tier will also have something to look forward to. Lowest score, most birdies in a round etc.

Just the chance to play along with some of these folks is time well spent.

I'm not very good at UL but I'll give it a try if there are any spots left.
