Most responses here are by people who just want to talk and make jokes and not be serious, IE ball washers. I point out to everyone that this program is smart enough to keep up with how far your ball goes, which direction it goes and place it accordingly on the course. When you land on the green it can tell you to the inch how far you are from the hole, yet some of you claim that if you are on the fringe all of a sudden it goes stupid and doesn’t know how far you are anymore and decides to give you a 150 putter because it lost it’s memory and forgot you’re only 22 from the hole. Now think about that… do you really think that’s the case, or do you think they handed you the wrong club by accident? That is ridiculous. I have no idea why WGT is doing this, and it makes no sense to me either, but it’s not anymore of an accident than VEM is.
VEM "Virtual Equipment Module” In essence what is does is that as your skills get better, VEM makes the game more difficult by increasing the deviations from an ideal. So the better you get the more WTF shots happen for no apparent reason. Hence why the better players complain about it more as it affects them more often.
You claim that WGT does not sabotage a game, VEM is also sabotaging one’s game. I have hit the same exact shot (as much as possible) with totally different results. That just doesn’t happen unless the game causes it. When one makes a shot on the green they have to calculate the distance and angle. I’m a pretty good putter and if the game doesn’t mess with me I can put the ball within a couple of feet from 40 feet out, and I’ve done it dozens of times. Then all of a sudden I’ll make a shot I’ve made many many times and the ball will wind up 10 feet from the hole. WGT doesn’t have to mess with the game at all, yet they use VEM. WHY?
As I said in the beginning, I am a programmer, but not to the level that the guys are who put this program together, and even I can figure out the simple variables to hand you the right putter. If the distance to the hole is between 0 and 30 >get 30: if the distance to the hole is between 31 and 60 get 60: if the distance to the hole is between 150 or over >get 150. If the fringe is considered off the green, then why are you being handled a putter in the first place.
My last point is this. Stop screwing with the game trying to make it harder than it already is, whether it’s giving you a 150 putter when you only need a 30, and stop with the VEM. The game is supposed to be realistic, but how can that be if you change the parameters of the game while you’re playing it. If you’re playing a real game and your caddie handed you the wrong club and screwed up your game you would fire him on the spot, and if you had to check to make sure he handed you the right club every time than you’ve hired the wrong person for a caddie to begin with.
