Men get a new avatar outfit, but nothing for the women avatars?  That was really kind of tacky WGT

I'd guess it's because it's not an LPGA major and no ladies are in this particular event?

As Lexus is the sponsor and it is a Lexus avatar, they might have the final say on whether we get a female avatar or not.

Well I believe if a lady wanted to play in the U.S. Open she could play in one of the regional qualifiers and if she played well enough she could make the field. But making the U.S. Open that way is one of the hardest things in Golf to do. Just ask any one who played in the regional qualifiers this past Monday.

Only professionals and anyone sporting a (USGA?) men's handicap better than 1.5 are admitted to the qualifiers, regardless of the gender.

That's quite generous, a number of years ago I made enquires when I lived in the UK regarding the Open qualifiers. Then you needed to be a scratch handicap and cost around 100 quid. My handicap then was a tad over 2 so could not enter and there was no way I could get it to scratch (:

FWIW, in 2005 Michelle Wie entered a local qualifier and missed advancing to the sectional qualifier by two places. Top 4 advanced; she came in 6th.
