I cannot help but think that this often discussed topic of the legality or correctness of hitting a wedge while on the green should be permanently put to rest.  Yesterday's wedge shot by Phil Mickelson on #15 green at the US Open, no less,  produced  no negative response by any USGA official nor did it result in any penalty what so ever for Phil.  With that being said I would think that this is CASE CLOSED.  Just my thoughts on the topic

So you've started a thread suggesting that starting threads on this subject should be curtailed?

He is not !   maybe you weren't around when the naysayers came out of the woodwork & had WGT software people take away the spin from the wedges while on the green!

The same shot Phil did yesterday ( with spin ) !  was taken away from us by WGT because the whiners did not know the PGA rule concerning clubs to be used on  the green!

The cry babies won that round!

Pretty sure Tiger used a wedge on a green too in round two!

I don't find it there - would need a pointer to one definition or rule about "clubs to be used on  the green" please.
