:)) An extreme example maybe in response to your earlier post of why downloading stuff is harmless ( to paraphrase)...but at least you recognized the fact that I was not condoning peodophilia...
'Curiosity killed the cat'.. but got you10 years.... :)))
Let me just clarify my position further. Me downloading a cheat engine to see if and how it works was harmless. That is unless anyone can give me a good example or even proof of using such software, whom I harmed, how I benefited from it or whom I may have conned out of credits in a MPC or any other tournament involving credits or prizes.
The fact is that there is no evidence of that. There is also no evidence of any unrealistic short term improvement in my score history that could point the finger of doubt my way.
You could quite rightly state well we only have your word for this and that isn't good enough to prove complete innocence. I would have to agree that is a valid point. In the end it comes down to whether people trust your honesty and integrity as to whether they believe you or not.
Plenty has been said on this matter in these forums over the years. It is something that has to be eradicated from this game in order for it to continue to be enjoyed by the many thousands of honest players. You only need look at this thread to see how this problem manifests an atmosphere of distrust amongst regular players. If the current mood deteriorates further it will be the death of the game.
A lot of people myself included care passionately about this game and everyone has the same goal of eradicating cheating. Unfortunately very few people have any faith in WGT being able to resolve it and are therefore taking it upon themselves to find ways of solving the issue. We're all pissing into the wind though as it is not an easy problem to solve unless those that are cheating make a stupid error and blow their own cover.
Standing on the outside of WGT and looking in, the only way they can solve it is by spending capital to purchase some kind of anti cheat program or by increasing their fixed costs by employing additional people to monitor all the relevant data. Perhaps they are doing this, it would be nice however to see some evidence of this.
I do know that WGT have acted on community members suspicions of certain players in the past. I know because it was me who raised the suspicion on one individual in particular.
Downloading isn't cheating, it probably is against the T&Cs though. Calls to ban those who have done so are ridiculous and completely impossible to implement unless there is a sudden swell or desire for those individuals to come clean and shout "I'm Spartacus" on the forums. If that's the case then let me be the first, I'm not above the rules and don't expect to be treated any differently. At least I'll have gone out with a win ;^)
