I think for most courses just the opposite applies.

They don't want to associate their brand with an online game. Doing so may actually keep people from playing on their real golf course.

How many currently active members do you think WGT has?

Here is something WGT just posted under the News section here:

    Golfweek Top Resort Golf Courses

    07 Nov 2013

Golfweek has just published its 2014 list of the Best Resort Golf Courses in the world.

If you can't visit all these top-ranked courses, WGT gives you the chance to play them virtually!

Bandon Dunes Resort claimed an impressive four of the top spots, including #1, #5, #6 and #11. WGT is currently in the process of shooting a Best Of Bandon course that will be added to WGT in early 2014.

Also coming to WGT in 2014 is Pinehurst #2, host of the real-world and Virtual U.S. Open. Pinehurst #2 ranked 3rd on Golfweek's Best list, while Pinehurst #8, a course available on WGT, claimed the #70 spot.

Other WGT courses that made the Golfweek list include: #2 Pebble Beach, #8 Kiawah, #13 Harbour Town, #29 Challenge at Manele Bay and #49 Wolf Creek.

One of our favorite holes is the 17th on the #8 ranked Kiawah Ocean course. The tricky par 3 is played over water to a tight green guarded by pot bunkers.

You can test your skills and play the 17th hole at Kiawah yourself, free on WGT without signup.

And yes, those sounds you hear while playing Kiawah are birds and the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy!

    Sounds promising to me!

I'm glad you feel this is promising.

However with Bandon Dunes. Pinehurst, Pebble Beach, Harbour Town, Manele Bay, available only as par 3's and WolfCreek being a pay for play cartoon course. What have we really got? I'm sure it looks good for WGT to advertise these as courses on their site and there are a lot of people who enjoy playing the par threes. BUT !!

This is only a personal opinion but these courses add nothing of value to the site to me and others and are there just to burn up balls and use for advertising. We were told 2 new courses per year and since that isn't going to happen in 2013 and by announcing Bandon Dunes in 2014 does this mean no US Open course this year? We've already lost the British Open Course so is the US Open Next?  I may be in the minority but rather than adding another Par 3 or Best of Course. If a course is added make it a full play course. Stop serving us whiskey and soda with no whiskey!

I think you must be on a different site.

Bandon Dunes will be the par 3 course. Pinehurst will be 18 holes as it's the site of the 2014 US Open. WGT has already been ther to take the pictures. The others you mentioned are CTTH. Like most I'd rather have at least 2 full courses a year but it's not my website or money. As long as we get the site of the US Open every year I'm good for the most part.

I agree. If we get the US Open course next year then I'll be happy.

I don't think people realise how much time and money goes into creating each course. If people just want a graphical representation of courses, then go and buy a computer/console game with plenty of courses.

I'd rather have quality over quantity.

You'll be happy for many years then cause the US Open's the only fkn HD course we seem to get year in year out lol.

How about WGT go and photograph a course outside of the USA....it's meant to be World Golf Tour after all.

I'm well aware of how much time, effort and money goes into producing a new course but as WGT's turnover is in excess of $50 million (they won't actually disclose the real figure as stated in Forbes magazine).... it may just be possible for them to squeeze in another HD course yathink?

    From Forbes last year....

The majority of the company’s $40 million to $50 million in revenue (WGT won’t disclose figures) comes from online tournament fees and sales of virtual goods to players. A new set of clubs can cost $14 in credits. A Lynx LX5 driver costs $2.

Truth is WGT would rather rake in the candy and let folks stomach one decent new HD course a year now.

WGT have saved $$$ for two years now because of their inability to get the British Open and on that note, they've also ignored any Plan B in an effort to offer us a replacement.

When the dearest balls were $2.75 we were getting 2 HD course a year. Now balls can cost upto $6.50 and clubs are far more expensive......so how come there's only been the US Open for the last couple of years...........go figure!

I'm not here to bash WGT. It's a great game but they should stop being such tightwads and get the wallet out. Their butt is so tight it squeaks when they walk.

Donald Trump came over to Scotland to build the world's greatest course (his words not mine). Maybe WGT should follow his lead and roam further afield than the USA each year. Tons of decent courses in Australia, Europe and generally East of New York heading across the Atlantic.

One thing's for sure......it ain't for the lack of money that WGT hangs on one decent HD course per year nowadays.

Would be better if they plugged the MLB hole everyone spending $$$ on here is subsidising and put more money, effort and emphasis back into this game. Maybe it's just a coincidence the 2nd HD course/year vanished around the time WGT Baseball came into being. I don't believe in coincidences. Things happen for a reason.

Just telling it like it is......

    OK rant over.

+1.... sure doesn't seem like the WGT. Nope.... not at all.
