Too pricy for something you're going to replace, unless you want a slow meter at master (albeit losing distance).  Interesting to see that the final clubset shown here doesn't include a 54 degree.  What are the reasons for dropping the sand wedge for 3 LW's btw?  Cos whilst i don't have clubs right now i'm thinking of buying them in the future...

    Hi Top

As I say near the bottom of the guide, there is flexibility with the wedge selections after the 64deg wedge is in the bag. Since using an actual sand wedge seems to give no advantage out of the sand it boils down to having a distance spread which you are happy with.

I own the Z Satin TP Master 54deg wedge but do not use it because it hits only 5 yards shorter than my PW. My wedge distances go 50, 77, 90, 115 which is quite a nice spread.

If you really want a 'sand wedge' in the bag you could change the final wedge at master level to the Z Satin TP Pro 54deg which has a distance of 98 yards (giving a spread of 50, 77, 98, 115) and would work just as well.

Dont forget that using punch shots with the wedges can be very effective at filling in some of those distance gaps.

Too true... and when you factor in Flop, Pitch and Chip shots, you'll have quite the range to choose from.

As one of the better players on the site says (in this thread):

With the rapture set you might consider keeping the hybrid but it is extremely advantageous scoring around the greens with 4 total wedges.

I have similar logic to villadeoro about wedge set up to close every gap.  I use ping g10s irons and ping Tour Wedge masters.

    PW- 115, punch 98,pitch 39, chip 22

    56 deg- 105 punch 87, flop 39, pitch 34, chip 17,

    60 deg- 85, punch 71, flop 29, pitch 25, chip 12

    64 deg 60, punch 49, flop 19, pitch 17, chip 7

    Put all this together and I have a shot for 115, 105, 98, 87, 85, 71, 60, 49, 39, 29, 25, 22, 19, 17, 12, 7.

Looks like Niv is moving aside as forum moderator so I guess it will be Alex who can respond on this.

Wow, wish i had read these forums before splashing out lol :s

One question, do you just use the standard iron set? and only buy the specialty wedges?

At Pro level, yes. Using the starter irons until Master should be achievable. It's all about avoiding buying clubs that will eventually be replaced.

nice guide!  however, i got pro rapture irons, hybrid, 3 wood, driver, etc. when i was a pro.  i was only a pro for a few days and it took me all of 4 days to become a master but i find that if you're a solid player you can still shoot very low scores with pro clubs off the master tees.  the only change i made is buying the g10 master driver.  i now carry 2 drivers, the g10 provides more distance when i need length and the rapture is all about precision.  i removed my hybrid to take in the second driver and i don't miss it at all.  it just depends on what style of golf you play.
