    Hi

I dont think anything was done to the wedges. Sometimes they may spin more or less, which depends on wind, where it lands and how much you choke on the club.

For the last 6 - 8 weeks i have found that a 3/4 back spin on any club i have gives the most back spin distance.   A 3/4 top spin against the wind seems most effective also.

I think that a full back spin takes away from the launching of the ball and ultimately shortens the shot.    The full front spin causes the ball trajectory to be to shallow and it hits the ground to soon.

Try the 3/4 setting.  I did, and like it.  My nickle.

ps,  I always use backspin against any direction on side winds, will give you extra yards.

Thought I would try, Cleveland 56 degree, Nike lvl 71, full power, full BS and a 9mph tail wind on 10 at Kiawah, I think the back spin works Ok, but I agree that it can be unpredictable.

I have to concur with Mushy01 and 719mike that the combined spin attributes of the 64° Cleveland (4.5 dots for spin) and my Callaway i(s) (3.5 dots for spin) in my first test caused the ball to spin on the spot upon landing and then grip and screwback just a yard or two after the spin had slowed down.

It's interesting though if it can be done consistently, just another shot to have in the bag

Full back spin on the Cleveland wedges are nearly impossible to use.  Any slight slope is going to magnify the spin and is just too risky to try and get it close.  I almost always use either no spin or some top spin to try and stop the ball where it lands.  Even with no spin it will back up 1-2 yards most of the time so a little top spin can help that if you really need it to stop where it lands.
