Generally, as you all know, the higher lvl CG16 wedges spin A LOT, playing with no backspin the ball will still come back a few yards on a flat green.

However I was messing around with my wedge today and may have learned something new? I tried this like 10 times btw....

I hit a full backspin 64 degree wedge (60 yds), on a relatively flat green (Kiawah #1, tourney green speed). It hit and came back ~1 yard to 58 yards, here is a video of it, it did this on 3 different greens consistently ~58 yds

    full backspin 64 degree CG16

Now here is a replay of me hitting the same wedge, but with 3/4 backspin on the same green. As you can see, it spins back quite a lot, as you would expect

    3/4 backspin 64 degree CG16

I tested this several times on different greens to the same result each time, should I trust this to be the result in a real match?

Very Interesting to say the least, and I got the same results with the L76, 56 degree Cleveland as well?  Something has changed

    benyla1, TYVM for this post.
When I mapped the Cleveland wedges, I recorded FTS, No-spin, and FBS.  It never occurred to me to got 3/4 spin - but this explains a number of WTH shots that I have hit when I moved the red dot up from FBS. Inconsistent results with these clubs & the Cally 33 pushed me to stop trying to use FBS to stop the ball - now I understand why!!
Strange though, wouldn't expect less back spin to make it spin backwards faster???

Maybe its actually the reverse , full backspin is causing too much and the ball is spinning on the spot before biting and only coming back 1 yd  ?

Maybe it's possible that FBS has so much spin that it causes the ball to just dig right in where it lands ? Like stop on a dime dig in ?

it might have hit a small bump on the green,
it does have some mini-slopes there, that could break the roll
