"WGT has grown to over seven one million registered players (the other 6 million are multis), with over five million monthly visits...(not unique visitors so this figure holds no water whatsoever).....4 million of those 5 million visits are probably just Yoban on his own :)

WGT should put as much time and effort into improving various aspects of the game as they do with marketing. The marketing dept is all just hot air /stinky dog mess anyway if you actually believe those stats above.

It would be dandy if WGT came up with a better plan to improve the game and to stop the player exodus whilst they were still trying to introduce new players to the game. More coming in ....less leaving....sounds just the ticket.....correct?

This new marketing ploy.....well....pouring 40 gallons of water through a sieve springs to mind.....and it ain't an endless supply of water.

Neither the Golf Channel nor Steve Elk will mean new courses, so it's plumbs and when newer golfers join here and realise they have to fork out $5 for balls pixels, how long do you think the majority of them will stay.?

You need to change marketing tactics. Give what regular and loyal players you have just now a better bang for their buck (revise your pricing structure).....instead of trying to attract just new players.

Look after your bread & butter first.....or WGT could turn out to be toast.

Neither the Golf Channel nor Steve Elk will get us new courses, so it's plumbs.

Wonder how much WGT is willing to keep "old costumers" by improving the game in the already mentioned situations: only 1 big tournament a year, one new full 18 hole course a year, expensive balls (no offers for buying balls in larger amounts), admitted using VEM for good or for bad, not finishing the Uneven Lies, etc, etc.

I think WGT has other more important projects to attract new costumers (players) and marketing the site than keeping the old costumers interested in the game.

However, I could imagine the very active legends and TL are the ones that uses more money in the game by buying the best equipment and huge amount of expensive balls.

Steve Elkington can marketing WGT in much better way but he is certainly not going to improve the game and motivate old WGT costumers.

^^^ This needs revised....else the attraction of the game will slide further ^^^

i suppose the Golf Channel & Elk is all about raising the profile of this game BUT it offers player the hole in a donut.

if anyone wants to know just how interested most serious golfers are at playing a virtual golf game....next time anyone's down at their local golf club ask 20 club members what would they think of  forking $5 for virtual balls or $30 for a driver and $35 for irons etc...

the huge majority of men and women at my club thought i was nuts....and i asked 50 or so until they displayed serious concerns for my sanity. one of them did play for 2 weeks but packed it in even though i'd sent him clubs and balls.

they actually thought i was winding them up when i told them virtual nikes were as expensive as real balls and i'd coughed up over $300 + on virtual clubs. i never told them how much i'd spent on balls in case they called the local asylum and got me sectioned.

this is the market wgt are targetting and it will not bring home the bacon....so they should be looking to protect the interest they already have from the loyal / regular members of this site instead of pi$$ing into the wind.

sometimes it's not a great idea to keep aiming at the sun when at best, you might land on the moon. go with what you already have and give it your best shot wgt. in essence....look after your bread and butter customers.

a test for WGT......save the money you spend on marketing and striking up hopeless partnerships and reduce the price of decent nikes to $3 for a month. i'm willing to bet you'll not only save the money on marketing but you'll benefit from an increase in the sales of decent nikes too. increase sales further by lowering prices down the tiers for decent balls as well.

Was at the US Senior Open and noticed that Elk had the WGT logo on the left sleeve of his shirt.

Think your wasting your time guys nobody at WGT will ever answer your questions, nobody at wgt even reads the forums, they have lapdogs to spout any excuse they can think of and that is it.While ever you keep paying(that includes me) they will carry on as they are.

While I admire WGT's stance on equal opportunities employment, I think giving a blind guy the job of graphic artist is a step too far.

I could do better in my sleep...
