I am looking to buy my first putter. I am deciding between two different ones.

    Odyssey Versa #1 Black Putter (L33+) - 1,795 credits

TaylorMade Ghost Spider Putter (L35+) - 800 credits

The Versa is obviously stat wise slightly better, but the value is way better. Especially for someone like me who isn't spending money on it. What do you all think?

If you have money to blow (which I assume you do if you're looking to get a putter in the mid 30s), go with Versa.  Of course, I tend to not like Ghost increments myself.

    Don't  like the increments myself......

Go with the L51 Nike....easy Math. (won't take you long to get there with daily XP)

Your next putter then would be the L77 Nike and...Job done ! :-)

Personally the L35 Ghost as only 800 credits.  Won't be too anything to absolutely make it a must always ding putter.

When you get to L70/71 both the Nike and Versa are great (putting is so personal anyway that no right or wrong answer).  I don't find the Versa increment's a problem as anything over 6 feet set it to 100 and enjoy the short travel back. It's increments below that are very useful with that in mind for me.  For 800 credit's though the Ghost is a little gem IMHO until you progress to the higher levels........

I used the ghosts upto level 62 is it ? .... then at level 77 switched to the nike , no comparison , increments and everything were 100% better for me , the last free rental weekend i tried the top level versa , and to be truthful , it also was fantastic and had same increments as the ghost , but  I couldn't justify a switch as both played equally well for me , also tried level 92 ghost and just could never go back to them. So in my opinion , Versa or Nike

I'm liking my Ghost spider lvl 35 putter. The increments took a bit getting used to after the starter putter, and I had to learn how to adjust the marker rather than swing early or late for a putt to do the breaks. Often when have a shorter putt I will go to higher distance to take advantage of a slower swing meter. Like a 10 foot putt rather than 2/3 on the 15 I'll go a little under half on the 25. Ding seems important on it, but meter is slow and can be made slower with the right balls so shouldn't be too difficult. MIssing a ding will more often leave your shot short than throw it off course a lot is what I mostly notice with it.

I have had the Rossa for yonks, and tbh I have always been happy with it.

I'm just wondering if I'm missing a trick not upgrading though. I note that some of the 2,000 CR putters have impressive forgiveness stats. What does that mean in practice?

I putt using the miss method. Can I expect to see putts that just slide by or lip out with the rossa, drop with an expensive putter? Basically, am I paying WGT to get better putting results?

With the "missing method", you play against forgiveness. A forgiving putter will more than others stay on line when the ding is missed - you want it to deviate.

I'm still to experience a better "miss" putter than the Rossa.
