    DannyMcFly:
Appreciate the effort of trying to stop cheating but i don't believe in any of this explanations. What Shoe is saying never happened to me and any of people I know + just think about that guys any of you ever was booted from game because of explanation what Shoe gave us?

How would you know? As a person being victimized by someone using the cheat, most likely all you would notice is that you get kicked out of the game (probably with the "UNEXPECTED ERROR" message), then you can't get back in the game. That has happened to me at least three times and I have only been here just over three months. I have no way of knowing whether my disconnect & lockouts were due to WGT's typical unreliability, or someone abusing the exploit mentioned.

There are similar exploits in several other online games. For example, at pogo.com, there is a "mute audio" toggle button for the game sounds in almost every game they offer. In  Monopoly: The World Edition, rapidly clicking that button during someone else's turn will prevent them from being able to trade, mortgage or unmortgage property, or build/sell houses and hotels. That cheat has been widely known and abused for over two years and as far as I know still works. Its existence and the management's unwillingness to fix it is one of the reasons I no longer play there.

    Phaxda:

I would also be interested in a step-by-step. I used zoom sometimes (on Kia for bad angles) but apparently that's just the tip of the iceberg to using it as a tool. I guess it doesn't matter now that it's gone but if zoom can be replicated using other browser and OS settings as suggested, I would love to hear some tips on how to use it better.

    TWOMINUSONE:

It seems most who are looking for the Zoom feature back are big earners. Anyone care to share how the zoom can help your game? Just asking, thats all.

I'm an by no means anywhere near being an earner, let alone a 'big earner' however I use zoom extensively and mainly in two ways:

    1. For more accurate approach shots, select pitch shot, then the game zoom (i.e. another camera angle) then when you get to the green you can see the putting grid, often this is too small to be of much use, however if you flash zoom in you can see much more accurately where to aim to land your shot.

    2. Offsetting for wind: each aim box (i.e. the blue box with the distance on) is 10mph from edge to edge or 5mph from the yellow triangle to each edge, of OFFSET wind from the perspective of the golfer i.e. without using the 'game zoom', trouble is at that distance this can be difficult to see and adjust, however if you flash zoom in the scale of the aim box to the background remains the same and so you can more accurately offset for wind making your approach shots double acccurate.

Hope this helps as it is a lot easier to do than to explain in writing.

Thanks John. Understood it no problem. To be honest though, i think i have my game dialled in already without using it, and trying anything different now would only upset it. Cheers man.

Try , Try again. WGT. How do you know a player was "kicked off" (whatever) a game and lost their credits 1) Because their opponent was cheating by using a certain key stroke DELIBERATELY.2)or their opponent used a certain key stroke in error 3)OR the the "cheated" player was the cause of the disruption  because THEY  used  certain key stroke(s)

Now.If WGT can definitely answer with certainty that an action was the result of DELIBERATE attempt to cheat , why is not the cheater removed from WGT?

A guess? WGT does not know.

Are there ramifications from accusing someone of cheating...even on a free online game?

Come on even I can work that one out.

Firstly, they aren't going to tell you because if they did that would reveal how they found out and that might give others a clue how to work around their detection system (whatever that may be).

Secondly, repeated use of the same sequence of keys with the same results (another player getting booted and they getting credits) would be enough to initiate an investigation into if such a thing is possible. We have to assume that they checked that this abuse was possible and hence why they stopped it. To the best of our knowledge they haven't accused any individual of doing this, they have merely said that it was possible and was being carried out.

Finally, read the terms and conditions, they can remove people from the game totally at their whim, it's their game and this isn't a democracy or a court of law.

From Email correspondence with WGT re: Restoring zoom.

    > Support, Jul 31 17:55 (MST) >

    > Dear Gene, >

    > If we were playing a match play game for 1000 credits and I used the right

click in a specific way I would be able to disconnect you and force you to

forfeit the game.  I could do this after you take your first shot in the game.

You would be out your 1000 credits and in our system it would show you as

forfeiting and you would not be eligible for a refund.  So that is what we have

stopped which again is a positive. >

    > If you read the entire thread you will see that this was not about a player

hitting the incorrect keys.... It was about players using this to CHEAT other

players out of credits.  So yes if it means we stopped cheating from happening

in the game everyone will have to live without a zoom button.

    Ok? Definitive. or "possible"?

WGT. Suggestion. Match play triggers "Zoom' off. Let the big dogs hunt.

    Your stats would suggest otherwise.

@WGTdbloshoe - Was the Zoom also an issue in Blitz and Skins Challenges?  I realize Skins Challenge forfeits handle credits differently than MPC and perhaps Blitz Challenge as well.
