I think that marketing have done some analysis and realized people want good scores. They want good scores, they want them directly and without effort. And they are ready to pay for it.

So I assume next set of top irons will have 10 in forgiveness, 5 in precision  and reach 235 yards. Nothing we can do about it since I guess 80% or more of the WGT players want the game easier, not harder.

Realism never sells, it's the same with other simulators - the accurate ones are used by a few enthusiasts and those who make you feel like a hero are used by many.

Maybe they need to introduce "modes", with an 'expert' move reduces the forgiveness and a 'arcade' move that magically make all shots almost perfect.

I bought the Callaway XHot and I am almost embarrassed to play with it, it's almost impossible to miss the fairway.

in my experience with these irons the Bladez stands head & shoulders above the G20's performance wise .. & the R11 irons are a tad better than the Bladez on the 3 & 4 irons ..

Just to clarify.  Are you saying that the level 79 Taylor Made RocketBladez are superior to both the level 59 Ping G20s and the level 83 Ping G20s?  I'm already 90 to 95% certain I will purchase the baby G20s the second I hit level 59.  And if I had to compare the big boy G20s to the Taylor Mades I'd much rather prefer the slower meter of the Pings.  I don't have the skill to win credits through ready goes or skins, nor do I have the income to waste $2.50 to $3.00 on a sleeve of Srixons or Callaways on a consistent basis.

But if the RocketBladez truly do offer better performance, it just might be enough to tip the scales in their favor, despite their unforgiving meter speed.

To chime in L79 Bladez have more scoring potential than either.

May wana see how far L79 is away though before wait that long. For clarity L79 Bladez are second only to the L90 R11 irons and not by much.   Loads threads on that.

    ^^^ .. what Jim said

Bladez are far superior to any G20 set .. higher trajectory, a lot more spin, better accuaracy .. the trade off is a faster meter and less forgiveness, which u'll find with top performing irons .. also the Bladez are available earlier than the top G20 set and is less expensive.

the lvl 83 G20 set i found no better than the lvl 59 G20's other than that they are slightly longer .. if u wanna compete or score low pretty consistently, u'd wanna learn the faster meter clubs .. i used to think that i'd stick to the G20 sets myself, until i tried the Burner 2.0 iron set, which have been replaced by the Bladez .. they take some getting used to for few weeks, but once u get used to them, u won't look back ..

i don't play RG's myself, but i do play some WGT tourneys to pocket some credits, not much, but still .. also what i found helpfull is to keep your mtr speed between drivers and irons pretty close; it just helps with overall timing .. in that case the mtr speed of ur clubs become less of an issue

I first had the G20 (L83), then I switched to the Bladez. Difference was huge. After a while, I got annoyed of the unforgiving character and switched back to the G20. The difference felt even bigger then, to the advantage of the Bladez. Sure, the G20 was more forgiving, but I realized that the reason I found the Bladez to unforgiving was mostly because they had also raised my expectations. Expectations that the G20 simply could not meet.

I still think that many of the new clubs are simply too good, it makes us target shooters more than golfers. The Cleveland wedges stops on a dime even when pitching and you only have to expect roll out with I3&4 when using the R11 (unless there is strange/huge elevations of course). The 4+ forgiveness drivers that WGT is releasing now every day makes you lazy and tee shots are just a boring routine.

lol. not that i would mind one of those .. but i expect i'll keep my R11 D in my inventory .. teeing off with that thing u know u gotta be very close to or on ding, otherwise u're scrambling .. sigh of relief after successful drive .. can't remember who said it, but there should be a little nervous tingle off every tee

    +1

Arguably the G20 irons should be top irons.  The G20 driver and the R11 drivers should also be the top drivers arguable again.  G20 forgiveness versus the slight extra (mostly) offered by the R11 but with due the risk v reward. I played a fun starter everything comp in my CC, and actually having to think about roll out was fun, and made me think how long has it been......

The cat is out of the bag though rightly or wrongly.  WGT need to think how the cat gets distributed at the higher levels because people are leaving rather than waiting. - loads of threads on that.

I agree 100% that the top clubs have made the game too easy.  Obviously I love all those circles on my scorecards but it really is getting silly when I curse an approach shot that dares to be more than 10 feet from the hole.

I honestly think the most fun I had in this game was when I was using Raptures, somewhere around tour pro or master tier probably.  The Raptures were the best club I could get due to my level but were just so easy and forgiving, even if I did have to think a lot more about where the ball would roll to after landing.  I'd love to see all clubs above the Taylor Made R9 or perhaps even the Ping G10 removed from the shop and everyone's bags.  That would make scoring a lot more realistic and make everyone learn course management all over again.

Fun and challenging, that's what it used to be.  Now it's playing darts and getting annoyed if I shoot over 60 for 18 holes.  Still a challenge but a lot less fun.

Nice idea there Tightrope with the "modes " suggestion. Now, i'm not the best at this game.  But then again, i wouldn't want to be if it was given to me. This game should be harder. Not easier.

The R11 driver is the biggest disappointment. Not enough more distance to offset the meter and ultimately less accuracy. I'd rather punch it down the middle consistently with a G20 driver. Staying on the fairway is half the battle. The rest of the hole is where it counts.

I'd buy the Level 93/98 driver (i'm only at early 92) but without it available I'll just purchase the odd set of balls and stick with the G20 driver until something better comes along. No skin off my teeth but less retail for WGT.
