thinkin' of getting an xtra driver .. specifically for a course like Merion, perhaps also CCC

been missing out on too many sub 30's because of wayward drive or 2 on especially Merion with R11 D ..

so which 1 would u guys recommend .. haven't played with G20 for ages & only played with XHot on free rental .. dunno which 1 might be best

i know this has been covered somewhere else, but truth be told, too lazy to search .. lol

Do you ever use punch off the tees with your existing driver?

There are legends still using the level 48 R1 Chris, not by choice may I add, but the few I play regularly with, theres not too many hang ups and forgiveness is second to none, little pricey though.

This suits the likes of Merion no end and with your course management would be great.

nope .. have never .. only use punch to get outta bad rough along fairway

if punching the R11 D off tee means less chance of ruffing it, i'd rather get something like G20 again to afford the little xtra forgiveness .. shudda kept that driver in my inventory on hindsight

Punch has lots of uses. You can use it off the tee for a shorter distance, you can use it to keep the ball low to get under trees, you can use it to get a better run up slopes and of course with wedges to give you more options.

You should add that people do use the driver on the greens. Mostly in ALT shot tho.

I have the level G20 lvl 81 (280yrd) and also, like you rented the Xhot driver (278yrd).

Personally I prefered the Xhot driver the distance difference off te tee isn't noticable, it's so forgiving it will definitely get your driving accuracy up and will cut it on the legend tee. From the legend tee I usually miss the fairway if I misplace the drive, sometimes (especially with a headwind) just a slight shank can leave you short and in the rough or a sand pit - you won't have those problems with he xhot.

I would have bought the Xhot if it had been available when I got to Legend but instead had to struggle my way thought 10 levels with a driver hitting 270yrs which is simply not enough from the Legend tee.

I won't buy it now because I don't think I can justify the 2k credits it cost when my driving accuracy is at 85%. It is also slightly more expense that the G20.

only thing that worries me is the difference in mtr speed between drivers like XHot & G20 and R11 irons .. personally i'm more comfortable with my timing when drivers and irons are closely matched in mtr speed.

that's why I think i'd prefer a driver like the R11s over R1 .. R1 mtr speed to slow for my liking. I'm forever away from lvl 94 though & there might likely be something else available before I hit that lvl .. if WGT even exists anymore by then .. ?

i'll probably play the Bladez with something like the G20 if I decide to pick it up again.

Appreciating everyone's different the difference becomes second nature after one round IMExp.
