It has occurred to me on no less than 6 occasions in the last year that I've lost a ball on ONE particular hole.....long par 4 at Congressional with the "pond" to the right of the green.

My meter rarely skips or jumps...and I mean 'rarely".......but when I hit my approach hot to that green.......it behooves me to understand why so often my ball is errantly pushed "right"...into that pond because my meter decided to skip or jump at that time!!!

Now there are times when my finger press takes my ball way off line,.....but I swear there are times when I aim way left...ding the shot and the balls darts "right".......

I've seen many other players complain about this,...but ...what can we do???? Grin and bear it!!

I completely agree with that. Number 5 ccc is it(Edit: Number 6)? Par 5, countless times I even get a ding and it always deviates to the water, or the meter goes extra quick, not saying I get deviated every time on this hole, but when I do I can't remember one time out of I don't even know how many times I've played it that a deviation results in the shot moving away from the water. Same thing goes for the 11th on congressional and somewhat on kiawah 17th.

Am I saying wgt does this on purpose? I don't think you can say that really, maybe it's just a coincidence, but this is what I have observed since I started playing this game. And I find it interesting others have found it to be the same for them.

The Congressional is a total frenzy. I think in the entire circuit, including the 5th hole to-end and the hole 10 there is a sort of Bermuda Triangle. I lost about a hundred nikes' marbles, mostly concentrated on the 10th hole but I think it's a real coincidence.

The simple fact that we speak denotes and reflects a certain fear in facing. Systematically done as described by Maru and Ab but I think it is, as well as a focal point, for even psychology: in front of those 500yds straight lurks always a pitfall and this does not depend only on the VEM or missed DING but just from a mindset on correct approach to the green.

Close an eagle is not by many, but the closing of the birdie is not difficult unless you find yourself with head wind. With cross wind I usually "support" to the wind trying to miss the DING down, never to excess, possibly longer the closing pin hole. Front-left side of the green is closing linear with right-side slope, try to putt between 10/15ft or even from the fringe is quite possible.

Then of course, in all these theory, you need a damn fortune.

    David.

I think he is talking about #11...I noticed that w/ the rocketbladez if you miss the ding by a hair with the wind you are way way off target so I tried to hit early on that hole and it goes dead left into the traps every time...now I just run it up (with mediocre success) so when I do miss right it stops in the rough...that hole scares me!

You think Congressional is a frenzy on here you ought to see what it's like to play in real life golf.

I've found that aiming left of the water with topspin can be quite productive, the ball tends to run up the hill and arc right towards the hole. If there is a headwind though it's a lot safer to play short and settle for a par as you can wedge within a yard from there.

I've dinged a ball on #7 at Kiawah and wound up in the sand with under a 5mph wind from right to left.  I know I wasn't aimed at the sand.  I've also missed while still touching the ding line only to have a ball start off well off line to that side and wind up lost or in thick stuff.  It happens.  #17 is also a magnet at Kiawah.  Miss that ding a little to the right, and you'll fold your hands and start screaming the Lord's name with quite a bit of intensity.

Just the fact of being able to see live a field as the Congressional could be enough for me, play would be unforgettable.

Very simple and good advise. THINK. If you KNOW it's going left or right, adjust your shot. DUH!

It's a stupid game filled with flaws and it ain't gonna get fixed any time soon.

    SORRY ABOUT YOUR LUCK!

    Have a nice day.
