    JayO92:

Have you tried to hit an intentional slice or hook yet chris?  That's what I'm interested in right now because of the pro shop description...

I can't understand that claim as if it has more forgiveness then there must be less sideways movement for each amount of ding miss. The half dot of shot shaping is the same as all the other clubs too. The only thing that is different is that the lines on the meter are further apart.

Artificially drawing or fading the drive is a decent shot in many places. A lot of players use this. The question, I believe, is how does this play with the new driver. If it's anything like the R1 was compared to the R11s, you're going to have to miss by a larger amount to get close to the same effect. It's a little harder to do and not always as effective.

I haven't tried the driver myself, no plans on it either, but again, if it's anything like the R1 with the forgiveness, I found that the longest drives actually come from non-dings. Missing slightly WITH the wind seems to get the best results, just aim accordingly.

Got to throw in my two cents on this club.    Magnificent!  Best club I've hit here bar none!

My first round was an effortless 100% FIR, not that it's not usually 80 or better, but this was with my eyes closed.   Then I took it out to ST Andys to see about the distance.  Hole 1; choked it a bit, full b/s & went 384 yds bouncing over the water & through the green! The wind was behind, but I believe only a very mild one.

Forgiveness is one thing, which it delivers in spades, but the length is more than advertised. This makes a world of difference to the whole game.  Only a rental for now, but if I'm ever able to afford, will be in my bag immediately. May even play starter ball for awhile to save up survey credits to get it quicker!

Stupendously outstanding club!  Period.  Good looking too!   If only women were more than advertised, or even what they advertised; even once!           :-)

Agree 100%.  I bought it and am very pleased.

To answer the question about the intentional draws or fades I will just give this one example and it is all i have at present and not necessarily enough to prove anything.

Just teed of on Oly #10 on this weeks 18 hole single play. I enjoy playing that hole with an intentional fade where i let it go well pst the ding and into th darker blue area.  I put about 50-60% back spin( a little over halfway down the ball) and ran a few cenitmeters into the dark blew, maybe a quarter of the way into the darker area and the ball went slightly right and started curving ad to my surprise landed at about 290 and rolled to 294 with a Lvl 61 Nike ball.  I have done this shot before in very different conditions, but to me this seems as if I lost very little distance.  on other holes in this no wind condition I have seen the drives hovering around 300 yds, some a bit more some a bit less depending on up and down hill slopes and where i put the dot on the ball.

I played the R11 for about a year, with me it was a love/hate relationship. The distance was great but the meter had a bad habit with me in regards to a pesky speed boost just before the ding mark. I was all over the coarse with the driver. I compared the stats of both clubs and decided the forgiveness and the slower meter speed was worth the more expensive SLDR. As soon as I used it I knew it was worth the price, smooth constant meter speed and forgiveness gave me about 90% shots on the fairway compared to about 60% with the R11. I sold the R11 right away.

I looked up the SLDR on TaylorMade site and read that the real SLDR club actually has sliders on the club that lets you adjust the CG of the club forward or back for follow and draw and left and right slider to, I guess, compensate for left or right wind correction. As far as I can see there are none of those adjustments you can make on the virtual SLDR on this site. If you could do that with these clubs it would be an even more awesome club than it already is.

    I highly recommend this club.
