Sorry to hear that didn't work. I went through the same issue before and had to contact customer service. Follow the link below (Contact Us) and let them know you're having a problem. They will handle the buy-back manually.
With all the faults this game has, their Customer Service department has been really good to me. I hope the same for you.

Edit: One more real stupid question ... do you have the bag +? If so, make sure you have unequipped the driver from all four slots ... also, be sure to unequip the bag again, then Save your changes ... might beat waiting till Tuesday to tell me about the new driver.
