Changing Ball from Cally iz to????

  I was using the Slow Meter Cally (lvl 33) and as these are no longer stocked I thought perhaps I should change balls. I did not stock upon balls when the Hex Balls were introduced.

  The attirbutes look exactly the same of the new Callys and assume they do play exactly the same.BUT perhaps I should change. I have no issue using the HEX balls but perhaps....

  I prefer a slower meter and considered the Nike X-RZN balls.which have half a dot more distance and a lot more spin for only another 50c. My concern is having to relearn the distances and spin with a new ball. However as I have not been playing in the last month, my game has been off on yardages anyway so it probably is a good time.

  The only other choice is a Max ball, but I find I click at least a day before I get to the ding - they are just too slow. But I am open to ideas but do not want to get a ball with any less distance than the Cally I was using (the spin was fine for me)

  I use the L81 Nike and baulk at the price every time I buy a sleeve.  The L61 is 50 credits less, same feel and rest still v good.  

  The L81 ball has a big learning associated with it though.  I almost defy any (half ordinary) player to go to it from a lesser ball and not get a load of WTFs to start with, especially with a headwind using the shorter clubs and FBS. I used to hate my PW in any wind until I learned just a touch of BS is all that is needed any wind.

  I have also played with the L34 Cally - 450 credits.  Same feel as the L81 Nike above and still an excellent ball.  If I were starting over I would seriously consider this route hoping I could then learn to control the L35 Cally, which has the same attributes save for a quicker meter, but 300 credits a pop.

  L61 RZNs. Longer off the tee, and they go about the same distance as the iZs with irons full bs so you won't have much thinking to do. 2yds less with 4i and 6i is the only major difference I can think of.

  i used to play with the lvl 71 Nike's, so to go to the lvl 81 RZN's was a seamless transition for me .. exact same attributes except for xtra half dot of feel .. that extra half dot made playin' with the R11's a lot more fun & more manageable mtr wise ..

  like Jim said the 4 dot spin balls need some getting used to when using back spin; they hold up more before touch down in combination with the spin rating on the R11's, but once u've got them dialed and u can manage to be on ding or very close to, u can generate some damn spectacular results, even to elevated greens ..

  as an example i just played CC tourney on BP back 9 .. on #15 i had 154yd shot to pin tucked on the right back of green; 36ft elevation; slight cross wind right to left .. played full back spin shot & put it 3yds below pin .. only rolled out 3yds to end up pin high & to right for 7 ft put

  Alan,

            The L33 Callaway hex balls seem to be a bit more consistent than the older iZs. Maybe it is just experience, but my shots are more accurate than they used to be with the new balls.

  Alan, I've been using the slow-meter cally for quite a while..Love it. It is only 2-4 yds shorter than the much more expensive Nikes, and you can ding it with most any club, including the R11 irons, Good value at 300 a sleeve.

  I was using the 250c Callys for a long time - very good value for the credits and watching the daily videos and doing the occasional survey your credits won't go down either unless you are losing a lot.

  More recently I have been using the Srixons at 180c and have been surprised by them. They are a little short (when on Legend Tee) that is my own complaint but recently got a new driver which helps and the distance adjustment compared to the Callys is minimal. The sticking power and control is surprisingly good - better than the stats would suggest.

  I haven't noticed a big difference between them and the Callys so for now I am staying with them. I am consistently hitting 3-4 under par over 9 with them and did recently manage a -8 in a 9 hole round.

  In terms of price vs quality the 250c Cally or the Srixons are without question the best value.
