    The best putter in the game is really a subjective thing.  Based on pro shop stats you would think the level 70 Odyssey Versa, but looking at what the top 10 earnings leaders for the year;

3 use the level 77 Nike Method

3 use the level 92 Taylormade Ghost Spider

2 use the level 70 Odyssey Versa

1 uses the level 80 Max Control

1 uses, SHOCK HORROR, the level 55 Taylormade Daytona!

I guess the moral of the story is that you should use what works best for you, as long as you make your putts.

    VERSA: Hands down

I have played all the Max Control and Method Putters.  Have not used the Ghost Spider (Only Level 90 Legend)

Versa has slow meter.  Allow you to ding more putts which helps in getting putts on the correct line.

I have made a lot more putts since getting the Versa.

    Meter, Increments, Consistency equals VERSA!!!

all taste to say what is the best.

I like the Nike, 75 % of my putts are with the 10-20 scale, and I know how each of them are going to behave up or dowhill.

I have tried the max master, the versa , no miracle cure there , it is all up to me and how I aim the putt.

I am a ding putter, and I am somedays dropping them fro 35 ftt and some from 5 ftt,

I will hit the nike 2 extra to make sure it will go in, when it is a under 8 footer.

But what I am really saying , it is impossible to say what is the best putter, they are different and some work for you and others will produce the goods for others.

    trial and error.

try to find out if you want to ding or miss ding putts, then I think you will find plenty of advice in the forum.

Hi guys.  I am level 80 and am using MAX control putter (Amateur)  That is level 46.  I'd like to get a new putter but no clue which one to get.  Little help please.  So many in the pro shop.  Thanks!!

If you are a "'miss the ding" putter, like me, I highly recommend the Rossa or the Versa. For ding putting, many, many Legends prefer the Ghost Spider. I had been using the Rossa for a long time and just recently acquired the Versa. I like it better, but kept the Rossa as back-up for a while. I'm not an excellent putter, but have an average of 1.6 putts per hole, 15+ per round, and over 41% one putts. I have tried and tried to convert to "ding" puttng, but just can't get it right. I think in the long run, it would be best. But, I'll just stick to my method and try to slowly improve my stats.

    Cheers....Fairways and Greens

    Bob

I use the Nike and I'm pretty happy with it.

I have tried several and have limited success with them all.  Putting is probably my weakest area on WGT - I blame it on fairly bad eyesight, I frankly just can't see as well as say my 21 year old son who also plays on here.

The one thing that I do know is that depending upon how you putt and mainly if you are a miss the ding to control your putts versus a try to ding it every time then there are differences in putters that will matter to you.

If you look at the really good putters I'll use one of my CC members as an example, he has a putting average of 1.29 and 68.69% one putts.   I'm at 1.53 and 49.02 one putts. That equates to 5 strokes a round difference and since our GIR and average distance to the pin is almost the same, that means that just on putting alone I get up 5 strokes to this player, at least it lets me know what I need to work on.

Thanks all!!!  But 1 prob I have here is reading the greens.  .I've watched to "How to putt" vid & no help.  Funny thought that all greens have a left or right break to them.........Even in real life I DO get a straight putt sometimes.

Please don't take this personal (I didn't even look at your profile) - it's a general observation and question...

If you don't have a clue where the putts are going to, do you really think that new equipment will be the cure? (regardless of VEM or anything else)

I'm not at all sorry to state "NO!" - putting is more a skills thing than a material thing. Only when the putter in front of the screen has some proficiency, the in-game putter will be of influence.

    Take care, and have fun!!

In a bit of a putting slump here. I just shot a 33 on the back nine at Merion where my longest made putt was 3.8 feet. It could have been a 28 with decent putting round, so I've pretty much seen enough.

Is there any discerable improvement between the L33 and L70 Versa? I still have the earlier one and I don't see spending $25 for the half dot more balance of the later model. Is it really any better?

For the recond, I'm a "ding" putter, except on steep sidehill putts where I become a "miss-ding" putter, and I use a scale which needs no more than 20-30% power(except 5 ft and less I use the lowest scale)...if that makes any difference in putter selection.

I have the high level 'method, Versa and ghost'

loved the method for a while, now using the versa higher level, it l find is easier to 'ding' for some reason than the Method.

Juries out on the ghost for me at the moment!!

Regarding the Rossa level 55, and the versa level 70. Which of these are the best putters in anyones opinion? Are both these putters ding putters, or not? I would be interested to hear your thoughts from those who have used both these putters.
