Why is it so hard to chip on WGT???

Whenever i miss the green and find my ball 1 foot off the green it is almost impossible to chip one foot onto green.  If it is a glitch in programing, which it seems to be then that needs to be fixed.

It's your equipment and relative lack of experience.  Once you upgrade wedges and play a few more months, you'll learn it.  I used to flop everything and now use pitch and chip 99% of the time.  It'll come for you.

Chipping for the rough on here and chipping from the rough in real life are 2 completely different animals. When we chip from the rough in real golf the  rough is like 15/20% at worse. Here we are chipping from either U.S Open or British open rough which is much deeper and thicker than anything we face in real golf. From that kind of rough you need to use the pitch or even a punch. And one thing I have noticed. Many people I play with hit a pitch from around the green and call it a chip. If you are really pitching in real golf thinking it is a chip and then chip here you will get the kind of results that you are seeing and get frustrated. The player that taught me to chip when I first started playing said think of the chip as a putt with a more lofted club. Never chip from a spot that you could not hit the ball with your putter.

I agree but i also have seen that the game doesnt handle soft pitches well at all

I cant do the same shot in this game as i do in RL (not suprising), the pitch of 2-3 yards and then the ball land and then start rolling

WGT just has that shot fail and go 1 foot (99% of the time as i have seen)

This - at least from the moment the ball hits the ground.

Chips fly 20% of their distance and must land on fringe or green. See tips here =>

Problem for beginners is that the proposal is invariably "Chip" from 20 yds in to the flag - one of my pet peeves in the game. Most of the time this shot fails :(

This and the low quality of the Starter wedges justifies the advice not to play the chip unless in practice rounds.

I hit a flop shot in WGT from virtually any lie around the greens except the fringe.  It just seems to be more consistent that a pitch or chip from any lie that I get.

This. You can stop the ball on a sixpence (dime)

i am deadly with the flop , however i think you have a better chance of holing out when the ball is rolling . i'm now tying to master the flop and roll ...

That's your Starter clubs. They are dreadful with every type of shot. Pitch and chip are crap if you miss the ding more than a hair.

Hint: Wait until level 38 or 41 and buy two short ATV or Ping wedges.
