Just rented the Odyssey (+70) putter and comparing it to my trusty Daytona. Not seeing much of a difference. Has it improved any-ones game switching from the Daytona to the Odyssey(+70) ? Jeff

I played the Daytona forever...really only putter ever played.

I got the level 70 Odyssey Versa when it first came out,,,, so i have played with it a good bit.

I find two things different about the putters.

1st...the meter speed on the Odyssey is a tad slower.

2nd..the forgiveness of Versa means if going to miss hit on purpose must miss it a touch more on the meter to get same effect.

Other than that i can't see anything else different. Both putters are very good,, i still use Daytona every now and again.

Edit:..Oo....forgot the scales on putters have one different....instead of 90 on Daytona...the Versa has 100.

I found that the Versa holds it's line better on long putts, but how many long putts does a good player need to make?

I'd be curious to see what 92 Ghost owners think if they try it. The added balance, particularly. Not about to mess with something that works, personally.  :-)

I think you already know what a gear nut I am Jim.  I had the L92 Ghost and loved it but felt I was missing a few putts here and there when I missed the ding so bought myself a Versa and get on great with it.  It's at least as good as the Ghost as far as I can tell, perhaps a tiny bit better if anything.  Certainly not worse anyway.

I have to admit, that new one looks very nice.  A bit expensive but I'm sure I can persuade the pro shop owner to cut me a deal again.  He gave me buy one get none free when I got the L70 one.  Maybe he'll do the same again.......

So you're thinking maybe that extra forgiveness will help that? I depend on the ding and using the avatar moves with higher scales makes it pretty easy to hit. That balance factor really comes into play, though, when using the higher scales for the shorter putts as it helps keep the putt on line. The slight increase in that is what got my attention but not $40 worth.  :-)

    I broke down,,lol.

1st game out posted a -3 under at the Par 5. That included 2 lip-outs which actually surprised me seeing that I cant remember a lip-out in some time while using my Daytona.

Either way I feel I made the right choice. Also - looking at most all of the top players, what are they using,,,,the Odyssey.

    Thanks again everyone. Jeff

I did too.  First go was at Merion back 9.  Made birdie on the first 4 holes before another birdie on 16 then a bogie for a 30.  Had another go and hit a 29.  Then tried best of par 5 front 9 and finished 11 under.

You might say I'm happy with it.

Edit: I see you were talking about the L70 one, the L96 is even better.  One seriously good putter.

One thing "I" can say for sure is - WGT's equipment has always proved to be better when spending the money for it. Again, speaking for myself. Im sure there have been some players who may not have been satisfied when upgrading equipment.

I feel the Odyssey will definitely improve my game by a couple strokes every now and again,,lol.
