putts and mulligans

    i was under the impression that putts didn't  count against hits on a ball,yet when taking a mulligan on a putt in practice it counts as a-2. Why?

    That's the price you pay for the privilege of being able to play the same shot again.

    From the FAQs over there on the right -------->

    ""Is there a cost to use a mulligan?

    If you use a mulligan during a Practice game, the ball you are using will be degraded by two hits instead of one hit. Mulligan putts will also degrade your ball by two hits."
