I have been struggling mightily for the past week and a half. I can't hit the ding to save my life. Almost every shot I click way early. This is due to a life style change. After smoking for over 45 years I quit a week and a half ago.So far I am a bundle of nerves and it is affecting my game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow ... congratulations on the lifestyle change!

I'm not sure if this will help with the early swing blues you're suffering, but I've heard of a few things to make the quitting go easier ...

    (1) Vitamin C tablets (chewibles) ...  not the best thing for your digestive system however.  Break them up and eat them like candy!

    (2) Telly Savalas's trick ... lolly pops (but this could start a new habit, and you'll probably have to shave your head to make the new "look" work).

    (3) Chew on hard-wood toothpicks (kinda like the lollypop ... but you won't have to shave your head ... but you might want to get a pair or two of overalls to make this new "look" work).

    (4)  Start brushing your teeth every 2 hours (minimum) ... then, when you feel that "need", take a deep breath through your mouth and enjoy that clean, fresh taste that being a "non-smoker" brings.  If that clean, fresh taste isn't there, it's time to brush again!

    (5) Deal with the nervous early swing ... it will subside soon enough, and you won't pick up any new habits.

    (6) Just remember, not only are you making your life better, you're making the lives of those around you better too!

    (7) Tell yourself, I'm starting down a path of "emotional superiority" to those that smoke.  (Smoking is a total "emotional" habit.  If it were simply mental, there wouldn't be any smokers left.)

    (8)  Don't let this game dictate your lifestyle change.  Deal with it for a while.  It will get better!  I promise!

Once again, congratulations ... and welcome to the "non-smokers club"!

Quit the cigs three years ago.  Started using the E-cigs.  Wow, for three years no smell, no morning hacking and the money I saved was great.

The ding thing....still learning that one.

Congrats on quitting. It gets easier the longer you go. I quit 5 years ago, now it's like I never smoked.  Again good for you, hope you make it.

For the next week and a half, use nothing but starter equipment, take all your frustrations out on them free rocks, your cravings will hopefully of subdued a little by then to appreciate the better clubs and you can tell yourself during that period its the clubs and balls not you ;-)

Good Luck in the quitting process bud.

Get some peppermint candy to suck on while you play the game . Or you can try a warm cup of tea. Happy Swinging
