Wow ... congratulations on the lifestyle change!
I'm not sure if this will help with the early swing blues you're suffering, but I've heard of a few things to make the quitting go easier ...
(1) Vitamin C tablets (chewibles) ... not the best thing for your digestive system however. Break them up and eat them like candy!
(2) Telly Savalas's trick ... lolly pops (but this could start a new habit, and you'll probably have to shave your head to make the new "look" work).
(3) Chew on hard-wood toothpicks (kinda like the lollypop ... but you won't have to shave your head ... but you might want to get a pair or two of overalls to make this new "look" work).
(4) Start brushing your teeth every 2 hours (minimum) ... then, when you feel that "need", take a deep breath through your mouth and enjoy that clean, fresh taste that being a "non-smoker" brings. If that clean, fresh taste isn't there, it's time to brush again!
(5) Deal with the nervous early swing ... it will subside soon enough, and you won't pick up any new habits.
(6) Just remember, not only are you making your life better, you're making the lives of those around you better too!
(7) Tell yourself, I'm starting down a path of "emotional superiority" to those that smoke. (Smoking is a total "emotional" habit. If it were simply mental, there wouldn't be any smokers left.)
(8) Don't let this game dictate your lifestyle change. Deal with it for a while. It will get better! I promise!
Once again, congratulations ... and welcome to the "non-smokers club"!
