borntobesting:The hardest time for me is when I am playing here. I had a set routine. Play 6 holes go outside and smoke my pipe. play 6 more and smoke again.
Maybe you can try something different. Continue taking that 6 hole break, but replace the bad habit of going outside and smoking with a good habit ... maybe brushing your teeth or simply gargling with a mouthwash. When you're done, take that deep breath and enjoy the freshness being a non-smoker provides.
One of my most memorable moments was when my uncle sat me and my two cousins down and told us he was quitting. He said he was probably going to be irritable for a while, and to please hang in there while he transitioned from being a smoker to becoming a non-smoker.
His thing was first thing he did when he got up in the morning was to go outside and light up a smoke. So instead of this, I started setting my alarm to be the same as his, and I'd get up and we would take a walk around the block. He now has this AM walk habit.
It doesn't matter what you do when you take that break (as long as you don't light that pipe) ... just take that break. It might help with the meter issue.
Again, congratulations Joe! I'm proud of you for making this lifestyle change!
