Just played in a CC comp with heavy winds at Merion and came massively undone at the 14 when I had a 17mph left to right wind.

Had a big brain dead moment and lined it up too close to the trees, slight slow meter and OOB, my fault totally. But after that the only shot is as close to the trees as you dare and pray you don't end up in the brush/weeds (I was left with 40/50 rough)

Or do you 3 wood off the tee and leave some massive shot to the green? Again I don't see how you could stop it from going into the right rough?

Any tips so I know for the next time?

    cheers,

    Paul

Personaly I would just aim for the centre of the fairway and try to click about halfway or just before halfway into the light blue area before the ding line.

That's why you buy so many balls. :-)

    lol@courtney !

Yeah, I was thinking about 'drawing' the ball but not sure how well it works with the R1? Not really tried it tbh, gave up after trying to draw it round on BP 2nd and just straight lefting it into the tree.

Changing the subject a bit, that's a great job with your blog post stats and replays Scott, very nicely done :)

That's the price I have to pay for being crap, haha.

Cheers Paul. I have wondered about the R1's ability to bend the ball because of its forgiveness but I guess you just have to venture further from the ding to get the same effect.

I've seen people hit the trees left there trying to be too greedy.

Play it like BPB #2, aim on the tree line and hit the line before ding, , it works perfectly with the R1.

U'll need full back spin to stop it reaching the rough right.

Oly #10 similar but opposite direction, aim down the middle a hit line after ding, it will bend around the trees beautifully.
