I am a lvl 79 legend tiered player playing with a lvl 48+ R1 driver. When I go against other legends in a match play that use a lvl 81+ g20 driver (280yd) or a lvl 93+ R1 Black (287yd). I know that I will be over drove by 20 yards or so. But no! It goes exactly the same distance but maybe my drive would be 5 yards behind. And when I play against lower tiered players but higher level with high leveled drivers, same thing. So I don't see why is there to upgrade my driver.

perhaps the only advantage is the extra few yards allowing access to reaching several 5 pars in two shots more frequently and slight down clubing with iron play. Sometimes the "big boy" drivers go too far into new trouble.

I cannot comment on the R1 and R11s drivers but the biggest advantage for me with the SLDR driver is it's ability to stop quickly, with full BS it will stop within 6yds, and the R11 3W with full BS will stop in 1yd.

That can get me onto some greens I would not previously have dreamed about attempting.

Edit: The above figures are from the tee, the 3W takes 17 yds to come to rest with full backspin from the fairway. Of course those figures also depend on the slope at the landing point.

    @ SweetiePie and ChinaJohn

That is excellent insight into drivers, thanks.

I've got my sights set on the SLDR myself when I get to that level.

supposedly there's a part of the whole VEM thing
that consolidates players' gear performance in multi-player rounds,
so that the ratio isn't too big, basically meaning that crappy gear
gets better, and better gear gets crappier, don't know if that's true or not,
but if it is, it would sure explain a lot of interesting anomalies
I've witnessed in multi player rounds, some to my favor some not.

The OP also uses $4.50 a sleeve Nike's and gets more distance from them. Using my little 2-fitty Callys, my SLDR is just fine and i dont need to spend the extra cash on balls. But if you like that driver, thats all that counts.

    That R1 is insane.

I recently upgraded to the G20 Driver and with the Nike ball, I'm consistently hitting 300+. I'd hazard a guess that I'm getting about 8-10 yards more per drive over the R1. That's a big difference on a lot of holes from the tips. I couldn't even reach #8 at Oakmont with the R1 and now I'm trying to get it inside 10 ft with the G20. It has excellent backspin too so even if you miss the dingy, there is a very good chance your ball will still be on the short grass.

From the info I gather about the SLDR on here and the poop sheet of the club its self, It sounds like a good fit for me. Although at level 43 I'm coming up on the

    TaylorMade R1 TP 9.0 White Driver (Aldila 65 shaft)(L48+)

What is everyones opinion between the two clubs and any other drivers they have had good or bad experience with. I have to earn all my credits on the site here so I have to try to make good a choice when I spending this many credits. Thanks people, this site and game has been extremely enjoyable. Although I am still looking for the page that offers work excuses so I can golf.....There is one? Right?.....LOL
