i hit the flagstick close to the ground from 134 yds on oakmont hole 10. The ball bounced back 24 yds. That is real ***. I'm pretty sure no one of your programmers ever played golf in real and i'm sure no one of them ever had at least one lesson in physics.

Would be great to correct that. And if you are working on that, correct it, that the ball lips out and rolls like hell -

    Moin Dieter,

WGT flagsticks are made of granite or similar.

That said, 24 yds is Peanuts, a really low figure. Alas, I've seen a similar one (Mickelson?) in the US Open at Merion earlier this year. In WGT, there have been replays of bounces to outer space, at least 200 yds and more to all thinkable directions (even passing through the flag).

Yes, it's not real physics, but no, not any likely change.

Woulda? Try did. US Open, the shot that caused all the fuss about him cheating with the drop. Ever since he did that WGT read it as poetic license and shots are now hitting them and bouncing off quite regularly.  :-)

Hitting the stick from long distance is unpredictable ,even in real life golf .  some will stay close, some will travel  20 feet  away.....      Physic has nothing to do with it  i think.

    I beg to differ Frap.

Physics tells us (me) that a shot executed for 200 yds doesn't have the energy for another 200 yds' travel when hitting the flag, but it does in WGT. 20 feet may be close to the max of it's real world potential, and some lucky ones just fall into the hole from the top of the pole. Has this ever been observed here?

The only time when real flagstick reaction would be close to WGT's was at Merion, and I'm confident that they use larger, thus stiffer sticks than the rest of the world due to their baskets.

I watched a video 1 of the best players on this site made...he removed the flagstick on every shot...problem solved.

There is nothing in the entire universe that has nothing to do with physics, real or virtual.

Alosso, i  agree  with  you for the 200 yds bounce ......          And in 3 years almost on WGT  ,i have never seen a ball hit the flag or top of stick and go in ,i am not saying it never happened ,i just never seen it ,,,,,  and after almost 4000 ranked rounds i have seen just about  every thing  on here .      :)    WGT  is still the closess thing to real Golf  ,,,I  thank them for that .   Glad also a member like you says  I beg to differ Frap ,  it makes me go back to the OP Post  and re-reed the post and re-think the way i posted my views   TY.......  See you on the courses.   Frapp
