    MIBCTGOLF:

IMO the lvl 83 XHOT is the best Driver on WGT until lvl 98 R1

Not to jack ur feed, but have u hit the SLDR, it is a wonderful driver with excellent forgiveness, my fw pctg is about 88 i think..and with high winds, you can play a lil cut or slice and get even more distance

    EdJaws:
I'd definitely get the Cally even with the slight price increase, IF it's the same club as the SLDR

The stats are exactly the same. They also added some new lvl 75 irons with the exact same stats as the lvl 79 Rocketbladez.

    EdJaws:
do I wait the couple of months to get the SLDR or pick up the Cally? What would you do?

I have th SLDR and love it - fantastic driver, my DA since having it is well above 90%.

If there is a difference between that and the Cally it's likely gonna be minimal maybe 1-4 yards either way not enough to worry over. In most situations where you put it on the fairway (a downslope preferably) will make more difference than the fractional distance in length and both Cally and SLDR are superb for that because they are so forgiving - far more so that the R11.

Personally, I would buy the Cally.

I also doubt I will live long enough to get the R1, even though I am only in my 30s!

Everyone keeps saying it's the same specs as the SLDR.  Away from the obvious price difference maybe to all intents and purposes it is, but on paper it is not quite.  Sure it's a fine driver but would be interesting if any one has played the SLDR alongside someone trying to AB as far as possible:

People in my CC have asked and I have no real clue what to say.

EDIT: Must have crossed with the below because the same exactly it is not.

Thanks for your input Joel. That made a lot of sense. Couldn't have asked for a better response.

I haven't taken the leap yet but soon enough I'll have the credits to do so.

I have a couple of CC mates that have the SLDR and I hope to give a comparison and review in the future and let y'all know how thing worked out. But I imagine they'll come out very, very close as you said.

    Thanks again.

Interesting that you mention that because that was the point of my original post. In fact, to quote myself:

    EdJaws:
Yes I know it has the same dots for all the attributes but do the dots really tell the whole story? Would the 9.5 degree Cally hit higher than the 9 degree SLDR?

Which is why I asked if anyone happened to do a side by side comparison.

    Thanks for posting Jim.

LOL - Oh crap I looked for that and never saw it .  Point that can't be dismissed though we agree:)

Regarding forgiveness of the SLDR, if anything I would say it is understated.

It's a long time since I was lvl 59 and gave up my Taylormade driver (with 4.5 forgiveness) but honestly I find the SLDR possibly the most forgiving club I have played with even though it only stated as 4 forgiveness.

I occasionally hit really poor drives or got slight a stick or jump and even then usually hit the fairway.

This and recent R11s irons have made a big difference and will get me to TL.

My overall average is 67, but last month is was below 63, it's now close to 60 and hitting 30 or under is no big deal now.

So, what are your thoughts guys, do I wait the couple of months to get the SLDR or pick up the Cally? What would you do?

Ed, either driver  ( i have the SLDR ) will get you down the fairway in position for your approach!

The MOST important thing to remember in this game is your SHORT game!.....Drive for show , putt for dough!....Concentrate on shots 50 yards and in, and practice putting, putting & more putting!......

The 2-4 yards more or less difference in the drivers mentioned will make little difference if you miss a 5 foot putt,  or chip/flop by the hole 6 feet instead of learning the proper shot to stop it fairly close to the hole for a tap-in......

    Remember its ALL about putting!

    good luck,

    Johnny

Thanks all for chiming in. I bought the Cally X hot figuring it ain't going to make a hell of a lot of difference, except for the big step up from the L59 G20 I was using.

Recently my short game is improving and my putting is getting very good (most of the time), even though my overall stats won't show it.

I did notice playing against the folks with the SLDR and me with the G20, they weren't that far beyond my driving even with the crappy wgt balls I would use. And my Iron play, in many cases, put me nearer the pin on many occasions than the big drives did for those players.

So in the end it's all relative, as Johnny alluded to.

One can compete and win at the legend level with the L48 R1. I've found its only about 5 yards shorter than the SLDR and due to the lower ball flight, sometimes it ends up going farther.

As for the X-hot, I've never tried, it but if it is the same as the SLDR, its a good club as it will nearly always leave you in the fairway unless you try and play too tight of a line
