Ball selection

  Hi all,

   

  I've got a few different balls in my equipment options and it seems like every time I run through one, if it's the last ball in that set, my ball is replaced with the standard WGT basic ball and not one of the better choices in the bag.  Is there a way to setup which ball would be next if your current one runs out, is lost or whatever...?

  In a word. No. I believe it's to keep people from getting cute and purposely switching balls in the middle of a match. IRL you're supposed to use the same ball all round if I'm not mistaken.

  From the FAQs over there ---------------->

  "What happens if I run out of balls during a round?

  When you reach the hit limit for the ball you are using it will be replaced automatically with a new ball of the same type and color. If you do not have any more of the ball type and color in your inventory then the Basic ball will be inserted. The Basic ball is the ball provided to you when you first start playing WGT. Once you play with the Basic ball you cannot change balls during your round."

  Yes, I did see the FAQ but I assumed that was if you had no other balls in your "bag".  My thought is that it would be nice if the selection went to the next "better" ball descending down to the Basic ball or at least gave you a choice to choose from your available options (certainly not to stop the game and buy any).

  Not a big deal if everyone is held to the same rule but just a thought (if any programmers were listening in).  Thanks.

  I can see (and appreciate) that, Ray, but I'm not talking about switching mid-round so much as if a ball is used up or say you lose it in a water hazard.  IRL, you wouldn't grab the worst ball in your bag.  You'd probably grab the one you paid for and like (unless you're not past the water and you're going to...well, let's not complicate the matter here - lol).

  use round balls, the square balls dont roll and dont even get me started on the triangle balls

  There's no "would be nice" because the CEO declined that auto-selection option a year ago. (I know that it's their advantage, so why expect a change anyway?)

  There's no players' choice in competitive games here - they are not going to start it on this plea.

  But, you may well visit the Pro Shop during the game (multiple windows allow for multiple allocations) and buy further balls of the type which is installed - they will be available in your game as long as you are still playing that type.

  This will only be necessary if you miss the alert to buy more when the "last ball in action" situation looms at the beginning of or at any moment through the game.

  @ycfc - my sincere apologies for brining up what sounds like a most frustrating experience.  ;)

   

  @alosso - it sounds like I'm entering dangerous territory here so I'll back away for now and dream of better days in the future.  I'm always available if another opinion is needed but I'm typically not taken up on that.
