An Update on the tournament that was run to help raise money for the Philippines.

We had 233 players enter the tournament.  So thank you to everyone who was gracious enough to donate money.

WGT will match the donations by players and will donate the entire sum to the Philippine Red Cross.

So once again thank you to everyone who participated.

A sad participation rate imo.....nice try WGT, if half the ppl who moan on these forums had joined in we'd've easily trebled that  :-(

Absolutely shocking . . . only 233 people out of the millions of players on here could donate 1 buck to this very worthy cause . . . what a let down . .

Thank you very much for setting this up WGT it was a great idea and gesture . . . but I'm guessing you won't do it again any time soon :(

All non participants should be ashamed...I wish WGT promoted it better.

That is incredible. My country club of 50 members, raised a little over 4 hundred dollars our selves. The whole community of WGT members should be ashamed of their selves. Thanks for trying Shoe, you had good intentions.

That is truly sad to hear. One of my friends at work has a wife from there. He took part of his vacation pay and all of his Christmas money and sent it over via Western Union to help her family members. I'm not well off myself but managed to play it a couple times by watching videos and using the credits & my own money to play.  Maybe they could keep it up and post it under special tournaments so everyone can see it & get a chance to play.

Thank You WGTdbloshoe  for this special tournament for those in need.

Sorry due to work commitments I have barely read the forums, let alone seeing (or even playing the game) the original post by DB so just searched for it.

A great gesture indeed and have spoken to one of my previous Amahs, and while her family is fine, she knows many who have lost family members.

I will not bag the thousands of WGTers of players who either did not see this tournament like myself as they may have well donated via other channels or simply cannot afford to. But to those that did chip in kudos to you all.

I have made a donation via other channels but would like DB to deduct $10 from my account to add to the fund raised here. Any question just email me.

I understand if people haven't been playing the game or didn't notice it. I think it could have been promoted more, but I applaud WGT for doing the right thing. I'm certainly not blaming WGT for the lack of participation, that's down to all of us to make sure we enter.

I don't understand, just 233 entries. I've been in a tournament recently and my first effort positioned me at 979th. That's over four times the amount in this tournament and I wasn't even last.

$1, how much do people spend on their golf balls, normally a lot more. I could understand more if the entry fee was high but this was just $1. I don't enter paid tournaments, but this was only $1 to go towards people who have been left with nothing.

The sad thing is that you guys who didn't enter missed out on a great tournament. The course was one of those beautiful I've played.

I think the whole WGT community should take a good look at themselves and sort out their priorities.
